Flyers will make him a top 5 if they get the chance
- Just5

No chance, not even sure he makes the top 10 even with his recent ranking but he'll make some teams seriously consider him.

Temper might be an issue after they scored he skates over to a Kitchener player and slashes them

Well the Sportsnet crew calling the London/Kitchener game made a Bryz can stay asleep joke if Stolarz keeps playing this well after he made a good save.

Actually the commentators name was Sam Cosentino

Just watching the Phils and thinking the Flyers could've had Bouwmeister and Subban for the cost of Weber, maybe less. Would having those 2 really be worse than having just Weber?

The problem is, Seravalli reporting on what started on 97.5 and a TMZ website that substitutes Philly sports for the Lohan or Kardashian families, made it a bigger story.
- Jsaquella

The other problem is that he used an anonymous quote purportedly from a Flyers player, which threw additional fuel onto the fire. Some of the team's standup guys were so adamant but amused by the whole idea of Bryzgalov falling asleep in a meeting of less than 10 mins that one strongly got the sense the rumor was utter nonsense. Seravalli's Flyers player source was either a) intentionally messing with him to see if he'd buy it and write it or b) not telling the truth.

And now it made it's way into a comment during an OHL game tonight.

Looks like Mark Alt and Scott Laughton both picked up their first points as pros with assists in the Phantoms loss tonight.

from frank's article (italics mine):

"...multiple sources confirmed to the Daily News that goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov did in fact “doze off” during a team meeting on Monday..."

he later tweeted in an exchange:

"@EShibutani Sure sounds to me like his teammates want him out of town. Take that for what you will..."

frank is not backing off of anything here...makes it sound as if it's more than one guy and then comes to a general, perhaps sweeping, conclusion.

Kitchener - 1
London - 4

Stolarz with 34 saves. (8-1 with a 1.76 GAA & 946 save %)

Domi got kicked out after scoring an empty netter and more or less taunting a Kitchener player that led to a little mini brawl.

London wins the series 4 - 1 onto the Western Conference finals.

There's no " bad guy" here, media or bryz. They are using each other, the reporters love it and so does bryz. No doubt in my mind that he was faking sleep to get some attention, laughs or whatever. It pissed off a teammate or two enough that they spoke about it. Not a big deal either way, but to say the media is "eating him alive" or running him out of town I think is way overstated. He does this type of stuff because he likes the attention.

Talked with a scout about him tonight.

This was said "Amazing to see the difference for Anthony Stolarz. He looks much more composed and focused versus where he was early in his OHL career." & "He struggles with his positional play when moving laterally, but the growth from start 1 in the OHL has been pretty"

He still have 1 year he can play in junior so I'd imagine he'll finish that out then get some AHL time and hopefully not be rushed.

good to hear man, hopefully he keeps improving. it would be super to see the flyers develop a goalie all on their own

Yeah he'll need the time, with the positional play he tends to go down and lunge at the play which when he does it gets him out of the play. Doesn't always lead to a goal but has hurt him at times.

Earlier in the game after getting an assist he slashed a Kitchener player to get a penalty. He's got some spunk but the game to back it up.

There are most certainly teammates who dislike Bryzgalov, and vice versa. That's part and parcel of having a losing team and a goalie with a strong personality like Bryzgalov's.

However, the "fell asleep" story was in probability, nonsense. All you had to do was hear Knuble's response to have a pretty good sense of the story's plausibility.

or c) the stand up guys lied to minimize the story like good veteran players should. I don't think he actually slept, but I believe he was messing around and ticked someone off.

Yup, overall a good kid. Will have to learn or will learn to dial down the in your face stuff before it gets him or a team mate hurt.
