Perhaps I have the stats backwards...I didn't really check. I just remembered one team dominating the regular season, and one in the playoffs.

I think you're buying into the cliché that coaches and players spit out at the beginning of the players however - and to be clear, I have never coached a professional sports team so I might be just imagining this - I am quite certain that events having unfolded during the regular season between two teams have a very strong impact on decisions that are made during the playoffs both on and off the ice.

I know the Sens would finish ahead of the Leafs. Not sure about the head-to-head, but the Sens never won a series against the Leafs.

i don't think there are any easy matchups and i think the Habs will be in tough no matter who they play. but this crap about wanting to specifically avoid the Leafs? pathetic. i hope they get the Leafs in the first round. not because i think they'd necessarily win but just to settle this ridiculous debate about which non-Cup-contending team is better than the other.
