Wouldn't call Keith a problem but also wouldn't call him an answer as to how to fix the PP. One thing I have seen him cut down on this year is the awful giveaway in his own zone, but Oduya's picked up the slack for him.

If Keith isn't an answer :

trade him.

and then attempt to replace him...

it won't be easy, as the talent level with the all compass quick world class feet and toughness for an undeersized defender.

Believe me, I know you all may think you see some deficit but if you could only try and imagine most other defenders in there, you may back off from the statement.

To use an expression Qused recently about another guy...Duncan Keith is a "stand alone player" in that there are few deficits, and the things he does easily are not noticed as "Did you see that?" moments, and the little things aren't occassional, they are abundant. Just saying, I state my opinion and rep on it. andd when I read it I liken it to fans who try to find fault in Suter, like the comments to rookie Nashville fans post that bad mouth him - trying to rationalize Suter leaving as he was "really their 2nd best deeman..."
If only thing were that black and whte.

You only see the defenders strengths in many cases after they leave and your team suddenly looks a whole lot lacking all those little things the replacement defender just aren't able to do....

I am saying think about......

Keith needs to take shooting lessons from Leddy. It seems as though Leddy sacrifices power for accuracy which works out far better. I think if Keith stopped trying for the "Happy Gilmore" of slap shots then he might hit the back of the net more...or even just getting it to the net.

The road record is very impressive, however, lets not forget that the Hawks got swept in their own building last year. Road playoff games have been good for the last three years. Lets hope they can get it done in their barn which should be gimme's with that atmosphere.

I don't like you either. The feeling is mutual.

By the way, the Blues suck.

Keith is not the greatest in the league on the point on the PP (not the worst either).

What he brings 5 on 5 far outweighs any "deficiencies" he might have on the power play. The Hawks just don't have great power play defensemen (anymore).

Anyone see the goal Byfuglien scored last night?

WIZ, if you're out there, NHL on Sirius was talking about the Frozen Four. Because some not high profile programs made it in, many undrafted free agents are playing.

They were especially high on 2 Quinnipiac players, forward Jeremy Langlois and goalie Eric Hartzell (29-6-5, 1.55 gaa, .933).

Any chance the Hawks are looking at either?

Duncs is a good soldier...losing 7 teeth and coming back ? That takes a lot of phuckin' heart man.

He's a great skater, logs a lot of minutes (too many sometimes), and is a quality guy.

BUT

He's pretty soft, and as has been well discussed, is a LIABILITY on the pp.

I'd trade him in the off-season, clear that massive contract off the books and look to re-stock with some d that will knock the phuck outta someone in front of the net.

Philco - I am in agreement with you. Keith needs to be traded for
1) fill some holes and like you said toughen up the D
2) allow Leddy to grow into a prime spot.

If he is traded, it would definately be a value-for-value type trade, not a Campbell salary dump.

Agreed...just hope the General Flunkie GETS SOMETHING back this time. Morin and Olesz are projects to say the least.

Even when the Wingz owned us during their decade+ of Central Division dominance, I never hated them as much as I hate the Blues.

We lead the league in points, goal differential, goals against and 5 on 5 output. Our PK is 5th in the league and we've already clinched a playoff spot.

I agree, trade Keith he is definitely bringing down the team. There is no way we can succeed with a guy like this on our roster, it just won't happen.

That's right, trade the phucking bum!

Seriously, just take Keith off the PP. He's still a good defenseman.

Does anyone know why the Hawks refuse to try an umbrella or a 1-3-1??????? All the best PP in the league are 1-3-1, but we've never tried it. Also I'm sick of Toews in front of the net, give your best player the puck more

I agree, or just have Keith on the 2nd PP unit. Leddy cannot replace Keith yet, but even if he would be close who steps up to replace Leddy? At this point the best option is to have both Leddy and Keith in the defense group, so why does it have to be one or the other?

No doubt about it......All this trade Keith talk is crazy!!! As they say you don't realize what you have until it is gone.
You talk to fans of other teams and they will take Keith in a heartbeat! But I guess he's no good here....
