I'd like to see the Blue match up against the Canucks in the playoffs. You guys need revenge for the last time you met in the playoffs.

Keeping it simple in my reference is about generating scoring opportunities by shooting the puck on net....Not 6 -7 passes and then a forced shot.

There are no shooting lanes because no team fears the player who shoots the puck most often from the point....and that is Keith.

A good power play enables point men to come almost up to the top of the circles to shoot....Not as you say, by standing still at the blueline.

There are many reasons why this hasn't happened and the best power plays don't only score on backdoor passes.

Not having a strong net front presence many times makes things more difficult too.

- Al

And I contend there are no shooting lanes because Keith doesn't create them like he used to. In the past he used to switch off with his partner to have his stick on the strong side of the point. In the past he was more active skating the line opening lanes, passing and shooting. In the past he would move from the point to the high slot looking for a pass, Like we see Seabrook do from time to time. But we don't see this anymore ... well actually the last game I saw him beginning to do these things again. Let's see if it was an anomoly or if this is something he starts to do again.

Hall claims he was justified because the other guy was holding his stick. How in hell can you slash someone while your stick is being held??
More incredible is how Shanahan overlooks this vicious slash and how it doesn't even warrant a 2 minute penalty during the game. I remember a penalty taken by Toews a few games back where he only waved a stick with one hand on it in front of a guy and got penalized.

Any word yet on Montador and why he hasn't played in the last couple of games? There has to be some issue with him because Rockford really needs him in their lineup.

Very bad chop indeed, but he will never be another Raffi, Raffi is a 4th liner , Hall is a 1st liner and will be one of the best players in the league very soon

Even when the Wingz owned us during their decade+ of Central Division dominance, I never hated them as much as I hate the Blues.

My roommate was talking about that as well. Walking the puck across the line skating laterally doesn't seem to ever happen either. People stand in their area and get a dirty thumb or two.

Anyone who equates Duncan Keith to being in anyway a "problem" clearly is spoiled by watching better players.

and as far as the pointman moving laterally eg. "walk the line..."for a reason, to fake, take a shot, to open things up,weell, .... it is all a matter of where the opposition is positioned.
Defenders than can effortlessly walk and plac ethe puck are gifted guys, but a large part is where you really are intending to go to TAKE a scoring chance.

I would say on any given night ta team's PP has talked about even procaticed a small group of four strategized plays they plan to use against that opponent based on the goalie and the video.

You won't see the whomever ends up lines up on the blue line on the attack necessarily
spending time trying to pull the PK towards a more centre blue shot attempt IF the set plays aren't ones where the defender is suppose to shot.

With team defenses closing the middle down and EVERYBODY will and ready to throw even their face in front of the pucks, the openings are smaller than even five years ago...
You notice the guys at the point are taking more shots after pucks have been passes in an almost "Z" patterned between other hawks attackers, the corners and back, with the defenders usually stepping into shots a bit closer than the blue line.

So I think it is more that as the reason, if that made any sense....

Agree. Another thing you see is Keith winding up on the shot and by the time he fires a defender has moved into the shooting lane either forcing the shot wide or ending up with the usual result of the puck hitting the shin pad. It's part of the reason Leddy has been a better option there and should get more time on the 1st unit. He's more decisive, will move to find a lane and will take a wrister just to get a puck to the net and see what happens.

Wouldn't call Keith a problem but also wouldn't call him an answer as to how to fix the PP.

On a side note one thing I have seen him cut down on this year is the awful giveaway in his own zone, but Oduya's picked up the slack for him of late.

Keith blows on the PP: Fact.

He's a non-contributing zero.
