Ok, I am going to say this again, and it still doesn't feel right.
LETS GO BLACKHAWKS!
As much as it pains me to say that, it gives me more joy with the possiblity of Detroit missing the playoffs.

I've found peace in this whole silly goalie debate. Unless someone totally browns the bed, there's going to be a 1 and 1a. Q will go into the playoffs with one goalie, but once there's a loss he'll go to the other one. And truth be told, if Hjalmarsson and Leddy continue to excel and give the Hawks 4 + defensemen, either goalie should be good enough to at least get the Hawks to the SCF and maybe the whole thing. |

LeBrun's fav stat. 5v5 goal differential. Hawks are a pretty significant outlier.
Hawks- 1.58
Pitt - 1.38
Montreal - 1.37
Anaheim - 1.32
Boston - 1.26

Attests to the ENTIRE team buying in to playing 200ft, wings backchecking and helping out in the zone, D moving the puck out quickly. It's a BIG deal.
Now, if Kompon can only get the PP fixed . . . wishful thinking I know but it would help to remove Duncan Keith from it.

Yeah no bueno on that one.
Any team that is thin/slow on the blueline would be preferred.
I don't expect much movement at this point (at the bottom) unless somebody really lays an egg. Detroit and Minnesota would have to go like 2-6 in their last 8 games for any chance of the fringe teams to sneak in.
San Jose, LA and STL should have an exciting battle for home ice in the first round. |

I've noticed a ton more backchecking and forechecking this season, from guys like Kaner. It's nice to see that commitment.
As for the PP, as it continues to slide, I'm just going to hope and pray the puck deflects off of one of the PK'ers and finds it's way to the net. I'm hoping Sharp's return will help, but it's groundhog day discussing that god awful scheme. |

Phoenix is 2 points behind Detroit, and they have played the same amount of games. They can easily catch Detroit. Dallas is just 3 back and have played 1 less game. Detroit is not safe. |

The telling sign will be if Q.starts one goalie 6/7 out of 9 remaining.
The way schedule is that would make sense.... and that someone will be Crawford unless he spits the bit bady.

Yeah phoenix and mike smith are playing a lot better lately. Dallas lost lehtonen with an injury, I think. So they are done. I sort of want revenge on phoenix, but they scare me. They did lose some key pieces like Whitney and torres. Even rozi had a great series for them last year. Glad he is on the hawks now |

Keith isn't the problem, how he and the other powerplay guys are used is the problem.
5 on 5 the Hawks generate all kinds of chances and make the opponent look like they are shorthanded, why? Because they move the puck and the players around, cycle the puck, defencemen open lanes by skating to create the opening. The powerplay suddenly becomes static, players are rooted in specific spots, defencemen trying to shoot through people.
Simple solution is use the same approach on the PP as they do 5 on 5. In 2010, Keith was more dynamic skating into openings, creating openings, switching off his partner for one times fronm his strong side. Look at those tapes, the answer lies between what they currently do 5 on 5 and how they used to run a powerplay in 2010. |

16 -- Road victories by the Chicago Blackhawks, the most of any team. The Blackhawks are 16-2-2 in their 20 games away from United Center, outscoring their opponents 70-38.

Dallas has an unfavorable schedule, especially with the Sharks twice who are playing well and fighting for home ice. Dallas also is not a good team.
Phoenix also has the Sharks twice the Blues, Hawks, Anaheim and Detroit. And they are not a good hockey team either.
Detroit plays Calgary, Nashville twice, Dallas and Phoenix and a much better chance of collecting points. And they suck but they are definitely better than those other two. Like I said. Barring meltdown they are going to be in the playoffs. |
