If you are looking for pure hockey skills, yes, he won't be a good captain.
However, he has big time heart. He gives it his best. He tries.

We all wanted them to TANK the season.
Now that we are losing to achieve what all of you have been freaking crying about, you are saying that the team has given up, and we have no leadership!!??

One Ott is fine, that plays 12-14 minutes a game and is not your captain.

I have wanted them to tank for almost a month. I still do. What bothers me is the criticism of the actually talented players and the praises the "blue collar" players get. I asked a few weeks ago, who would people rather have, 9 Jason Pominvilles or 9 Steve Ott's, 6 Tyler Myers, or 6 Mike Webers. Unanimously people said Weber and Ott. Thats part of the problem, we all assumed Pominville was a horrible captain and that Ott needed to be wearing a letter. Trading Pominville and naming Ott a captain did nothing for this team and will do nothing but add to the loss column. You need to find talent first, then you can fill your roster out with heart and grit

Roy's time was up in Buffalo, he did not want to be here anymore.
Why would you keep a player that did not even want to be here???
I think Ott brings much needed toughness to this team.
We did not bring Ott here for his scoring abilities, he is here for his toughness.
We all knew that when he got here.

1.) Suddenly we take the most penalties in the league
2.) Suddenly our PP is last in the league
3.) Suddenly our PK is last in the league
4.) Suddenly we become the worst puck possession team in the league

We got rid of the only skill and experience we had down the middle of the ice for a 3rd line grinder who plays borderline dirty hockey.

Roy disliked the coach, as did many other players. We made a coaching change, and the players have responded much better than when Ruff was here.

Conacher was avearge once he was split off of a line with Stamkos. TBL saw that. They moved him while his value was high. I happen to think Conacher is over rated.
