How about if Cgy somehow gets first overall and colorado gets 3rd. Then trade colorado the 1st overall for their 1st and Orielley. Then take Mackinnon with the 3rd pick. Win- Win? I know a lot of things have to go right for this to happen and I dont even know if colorado deals with us after that offer sheet but this would be a dream scenario.

I don't think they can trade O'Reilly for one calendar year from the date of the signed offer sheet.

Probably not this summer unless we overpay. But summer 2014 possibly there would be more interest.

Because they really need a solid Dman and Jones would solidify them at that spot for a long time. Plus its going to hard for them to resign Orielley anyways

I think in that scenario Statsny & Col 1st for the #1 overall is more realistic. Salary dump for colorado & get their #1 dman. Calgary get 2 centres one that will help Feaster immediately if retool is reality.

Im high on MacKinnon....centers like him are worth tons to teams in many regards. It will certainly depend where they sit, however.

I have watched them for the past 2 years, many times. Mac is ready, JD has to change his game and is far smaller.

I should add, JD's issue, is he is far better than the other players, but his skick handling will not work at the NHL level. The d-men take the body in the NHL, and can catch him. Amazing hands, but is a bit of a puck hog and showman at times.

Mac is ready for the NHL now, fast move to the outside, Amazing first 3 strides. Good shot, plays both ways.

What would he be mad about? They're letting him make trades and bring in young kids... it's not like he's handcuffed or anything.

Well maybe because the Owner told him his walking mandate is to make the playoffs right after he traded 2 franchise players & the 3rd one said he is going to retire. That would kind of piss me off too.

I'll have to ask my two buddies who watch Moose games but I'm pretty sure Drouin hasn't ever played center.

Yeah, who knows what the actual politics are around that Dome these days. You have to admit that his creditibility has had some pretty poor optics & that sure wont go over well with the two bullies that pull his strings.

Yea but the trade has to be reasonable. That contract would handcuff this franchise for a long long time. Plus even after taking on all that salary, why would the flames give up 2 first rounder + a dman. There is just no way. If they threw Coutorier into that deal then maybe I might be tempted but still it would be a tough sell
