I think what it means is that we're on the hook since he wasn't traded prior to that (so LA is on the hook for Richards & Carter). I went on there and they have a calculator. Basically, if we did trade him, we carry the bulk of the penalty, but not all of it. However, that's the best reason to amnesty him I've seen; if he retires in 2019, we'd have an $8.1M cap hit.

The recapture rule definitely plays into buyout considerations.

Anyone else notice the parallels between the Sixers and Flyers?

1) Both will likely miss the playoffs and get high draft picks.

2) Both traded away young studs last summer: Vucevic for the Sixers, Bob for the Flyers.

3) Both will likely get new coaches this summer.

4) Both are likely to undergo major "rebuilds" this summer.

- phillydentist

Don't compare the Flyers to the 76ers. Basketball is trash.

I just want to know how Bob is a stud because he played above average for 2 months.

I also want to know what major rebuild we're going to see from the Flyers.

People, we're already rebuilding. Remember when we traded Richards and Carter? For youth? That would be rebuilding. It turned into a funny situation though with the immediate success we saw from the team.

Basketball is still a pile of hot garbage.

I watched a few minutes of the championship game. I'd say that about 90% of the time when these guys are dribbling, it's traveling; they turn the ball over int heir hand. Posterizing > Skill.

That's great, I didn't see that yet. Taken in that exact context, it's a complete Richard move by Bryz.

Ehhh. You make a good point.

I just hate everything about basketball- it really stems from the prevalence of classlessness in the sport. Same is starting to happen with me and football....

Man, you're grouchy these days. What's up? Not enough tailgating to keep the animal quenched? You need a couple good yelling fits on a Saturday afternoon pregamer.

The Senators have called up Jean-Gabriel Pageau from his assignment with the Binghamton Senators. Pageau is looking to make his NHL debut amidst the Senators five-game slide.

Chances of getting his first NHL goal against the Flyers and their lazy sleepy goaltender? Pretty good.

So is the thinking keep both Bryz and Mason for next year see how they both play and if Mason is better buy out Bryz.

Briere should be done for the year and maybe as a Flyer. What is the point of playing him this season.

Which of the forwards is traded over the summer to bring in d-men?

saw today that Briere had given him tickets to a game a few years back and he went wearing a Flyers jersey.

I'll make this prediction right now: once Bryz gets bought out, he will get Vokoun-type offers, ie, to be a veteran backup, won't take them and go play in the KHL for a year, come back to the NHL and perform on the level of Nabokov, at best.

Keep them both, play them as a 1A/1B combo (maybe 70/30 split) unless one really steps up or really sinks. Bryz is probably bought out at the end barring a SCF run.

Briere's either traded or amestied.

Read's makes the most sense as a trade piece. If he can bring back a young top-4 guy, you pretty much have to do it.[/img]
