So, the Eagles without the trade?
- jmatchett383

Touche.

The irony is both the Flyers and Sixers tried hard to improve and it blew up in their faces.

easily the most annoying thing in sports.

Question for everyone: what fanbase/arena do you think is toughest to play in due to songs/chants/etc? I always thought the the "OLE" chant in Montreal would drive me to sheer bloodlust as a player. The "Duh duh duh" song after every Chicago goal has to be my most hated goal song in the NHL, and would cause me, as a player, to Jesse Boulerice someone. Just wonder what other people think.

I'd really love to see Bryz win a Cup in Philly, and then just flip the bird to all these guys in the media laughing at him.

Alright, I'm going to put the pipe down now, but that would be sweet.

I hear you, man. I mean, there's plenty of room to criticize his performance and the ROI on his contract. It makes me sad that he's criticized as a person for being thoughtful and emotive, though.

#Flyers mixing up line combos on rushes, but Voracek-Giroux-Gagne looked like one that took more shifts than others.

here are some interesting nuggets from Friedman's column the other day...

you can read the rest here:

You know, after MacKenzie I think Elliot Friedman is the best.

I watched the Hockey Night in Canada panel during the recent Flyers Leafs game, and most of the guys like Healy and Weekes were making fun of Bryz, the goalie situation in Philly, etc. Friedman was the only one who actually showed real understanding of what went on here this year with Bryz, his excellent play in the beginning of the year, and how the team D, injuries, and even the attack style made it a tough year.

The rest of those guys were acting like clowns, going on and on about Bryz's idiosyncrasies and what an awful goalie, etc.

I like Friedman, he actually does his job and seems quite fair and unbiased in his reporting .

Yeah completely different player once he returned from that injury...
We all thought it was super fast. Sadly I think it was too fast as he hasn't regained the form he had at the beginning of the season. He was quickly becoming my favorite forward out there. His heart on his sleeve outworking everyone every shift...

Nice Blog, as usual Bill. But I must question your decision to sidestep the hot button question on all of our minds...Are you, or are you not falling asleep while writing these blogs at this point of a lost season?

it's the 4 am feedings of the new baby that induces day time naps at the Meltzer house

that would be my guess from past experience

Well boys, time to end this season with honor and integrity (As much as the Philly media will let you.)
I don't expect us to win tonight but I'll be happy with a strong effort.

Not having our D slide through the paint to score on our goalie would be nice as well...

Someday I'll let that go, but it's too funny in hindsight... Not so much fun during.

And which of those was the premier top-2 defenseman?

We also don't have a brodeur in net. Not many teams have that calibur of goaltending

i like bryz, i dont get why they (media) single someone out and want to make a a$$ out of him, he is differnt, but so what..he was having a good season and maybe he is burned out, playing a shortened season with games practically every other night with no real back up, i dont blame him, there again homer should have made sure he had an adequete back up.

the philly media has to be the worse then any other city,, can they just keep them away and out of the locker rooms?

Git er done hemogoblinator

He again reiterated he “liked” the roster as is, but there will some changes this offseason.

“I like our team, I don’t like our record,” he said. “I don’t like where we sit right now in the standings being out of a playoff position. Overall, I like our team. We’ve got a lot of issues we’ve dealt with. I’m not trying to make excuses. … I’m sure there will be some changes. But I don’t look at it like, ‘Holy mackerel, we’ve got to blow this up and start over again.’

I still say sliding on the ice face down is the best move in any situation.
