Bix...I'm going to travel with my Eastern sales rep this fall (PEI, NS, NB) and want to set aside some time to golf 3 or 4 rounds 9maybe more) ...any must play course suggestions?
- Woderwick

Yes.....

Golf CapeBreton.com - Highland Links is top 50 in the world..for past 5 years or more. Plus there is a new course there, top 10 in Canada.

PEI - Best golf destination in Canada. Crow Bush Cove, is a links course that is a must. To play the back you must be long.

NS - if your wallet allows, Fox Harbour is a private course owned by Ron Joyce - Tim Horton's Ron Joyce, it is about an hour from me, it is a 70 million dollar course that has been played by alot of the PGA pros. Tiger, Ernie etc.. Just awesome.

Why because you were born in Milton?

No, I wasn't. I wasn't being serious either.

Me- 2600sq for $281,000 11 years ago - now worth upper 600's. I like the town just fine.
- Woderwick

Jesus christ. I'm taking myself back up to Barrie. Half a mill will buy me a mansion. Probably going to save the 200 grand, and invest it into a cotty / boat. Plus i hate traffic

Nice. I moved here 5 years ago.
- systemtool

We love it here - still such a family oriented atmosphere and soo much to do within minutes of our house, plus we can be in so many places within 30 minutes. House value means nothing to us in the big scheme of things - we're not moving until we retire. And our property taxes are still really low.

You bought late. Sorry to say.

You dont get much for 500k these days, unless you're going way way out of the city.

I got a 2400sqft home for 480k. Not sure what more you can ask for that price.

- systemtool

When i bought 10 years ago our 2000 sq ft home cost 265,000. Probably worth close to half a mill now.

my 70x130 ft lot... for half what you paid?
- Big_Lightnin

I could have paid a lot less too.

I chose the house because it was worth paying the extra.

Do you seriously like it here? I've been here almost 2 years, and I've yet to see any remotely attractive women out in public (not that it matters I have my own lady, but still) There's nothing here other then sub divisions where houses are crammed beside each other. I can take a piss out my window and it goes into my neighbours kitchen...

HATE HATE HATE

There are attractive women....you just dont see them everywhere.
Milton is good town to raise kids.

Yup. Thats how you do it.

I bought mine 480k about 5 years ago. I could sell it today for about 550-600k.

It was a great investment. I plan on buying some land up North next, but thats a few years away.

That's what I hear. I'm a long way off from kiddies though. Plus it's not safe to have little (frank)ers like me running around. The general public would appreciate it if I did not create offspring at this point.

This isn't 10 years ago.

You wont get a mansion in Barrie for that price. Trust. That said, good luck finding a lot of work out there and not having to trek close or to the city 5 times a week.

Snow doesn't even phase me man. So used to driving in white outs and 30 cm of snow that appeared in a few hours. Cottage country traffic is only a nuisance if you're taking highway 11. The 400 extension isn't bad at all, and I can get around town without using the highway on a sunday night or friday evening. So it's all good. I like the waterfront and what not. Only poop thing is that it's a retail city. Theres next to nothing in the form of big business. I fluked out, theres a huge transformer station that I'll be working out of. More money, and lower cost of living.

Agreed.

Perfect place. Glad we came here when we did. Probably would only be able to afford a town home if we came in now.

Man, 500 will get you a place out in midhurst, which is where the wealthy folk of barrie tend to move to. I don't mean like a 8 bedroom mansion, I mean like a nice big house, two door garage, detached, nice lot, no maintenance needed.
