But you don't play and you have all of this figured out.. Amazing. Go find a nice long hilly course and play 18.. I bet you change your mind. Oh, and no cart.

Yale golf course almost killed me. Tougher to walk than the Black.

I actually think golf gets a bad rap in terms of expense. You can put your kid into a nice club for 500 bucks, and he/she can play 90 rounds, be outside all day with other kids, having a blast. Compare that to hockey - 500 bucks MAYBE puts you in a house league. Rep? You're talking thousands of dollars a year all in.
- fifty__missions

The 90 rounds is not cheap. How much for the membership?

I think you missed the part where I have played a number of times....I lived to tell the tale.

I used to play 3-4 times a week when I golfed for free...now Im either too busy or dont want to fork over 60-80$ per round. Shot in the low 80s last year for the most part.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Me too. As long as I'm in the 80s I am happy considering how rarely I play. You don't forget how to strike the ball, but short game and putting are non-existent.

We have some amazing golf around here. I would love to play the black. I wanted to try it after the open a couple of years ago. Just to be totally humbled ny the course.

It is ok to admit it, your wife said no to golf, come on Wedgie.
- LeafMan

It's actually the opposite problem: Mrs. Wedgie likes golf more than I do.

So if I want to go, she wants to go too. So then we have to line up a babysitter for 8 hours.

Which makes one round of golf about the same price as a graduate degree at Harvard.

So I stay at home, drink beer and watch it instead.

Which is OK.

I haven't played in two years.

Stupid kids ruin everything.

- Atomic Wedgie

Get your kids into the game if you can. In Johnny Miller's book ('I Call the Shots'), he has a great passage about how to hook a kid into the game. I'm paraphrasing, but he says the first time is the most important: rent a cart, drive around, let your kid (age 4 or 5) hit balls into a stream, chase after frogs, etc., just have fun, basically, and the key is to leave before the kid wants to. They will always want to go back. It worked like a charm with my son. You basically have to forget about your own game for a few years when you go with your kids, but it is totally worth it. Now, my son is hooked on the game. I'm going to work on my daughters now (ages 4 and 6).

Yeah thats just it...and most people dont realize that you can take several strokes off your game by improving your 75yard in accuracy + putting. Dirving the ball 320 yards is great and all, but if you cant chip or putt you're in trouble.

Played it around 10 times, twice from the tips. 93 was my best and that was with lights out putting.

Thats what Im saying: a kids membership would run you about 500 bucks at a reasonable course.

Nice! I went to the US Open at Bethpage in 2002 and 2009. Only about 35 minutes from my house. The 2002 win by Woods was awesome to witness.

Very, very cool. My father and I were in St. Andrews for Tigers win in 2005. Dominant.

Not a great putter. If I was, I would have been a scratch golfer years ago. I like to smash the ball. Straight. Why more of them do not just try to hit the thing straight is a mystery to me.

So if money is no object, why don't you buy out Dozzer this summer in a compliance buyout?

He's dragging down the team...

Hahaha. I remember when I first went golfing, the Golf course (Eagle Lake) only had right handed clubs for rent, at the time I played I realized pretty quickly I hit the ball left handed but still had a better score than my friends hitting it right handed.

UGH! Golfing with women (in my experience) is such a painstaking process that always leaves me wayyy to drunk. If I've golfed with 100 women, 98 of them take between 3-600 strokes just to match each of my and the other guys shots. What happens then? I sit and drink and drink and drink and drink.

I'm not sexist I swear. I just like a rate of play faster than the 401 at 530pm.
