I'm with you, especially majors. Best four weeks of the sporting year. I'm going to the PGA Championship in Rochester this summer (Oak Hill C.C.).

I have friends who listen to it on satelite radio while they're on the road.

Playing it is fun, frustrating and as my wife says, expensive, watching it for me is boring.

You have been put on the watch list, just a matter of time.

But Glucky's a veteran... shouldn't he be allowed a little more leeway?

BK (before kids), I played 65-70 rounds a year, got down to an 8. This past summer I played 4 rounds. Doubt it gets much higher this coming summer.

I haven't played in two years.

Stupid kids ruin everything.

Nice! I went to the US Open at Bethpage in 2002 and 2009. Only about 35 minutes from my house. The 2002 win by Woods was awesome to witness.

You must be a scratch golf to make a statement like that, or you don't play..
- bixll

don't play - have tried a couple of times but just not my thing. No doubt it takes a ton of skill and concentration (mental stamina). Doesn't make it a sport - pro Counter Strike players have a ton of skill, concentration and team work and it's still a game. Just because people are getting paid - doesn't make it a sport (to me). I think there is just a point where the physical exertion is so low - that I write it off.....like if fat John Daly can have a smoke, a beer, pay someone to carry his clubs around and drive around in a car from hole to hole.....yeah I just can't buy into that being a sport.....clearly a game.

I have played 12 times in the past 4 years, Company ventures.. But I love the game. I will play more this year, I want to get to be a scratch handicapper before I am 50 yrs. old.

I actually think golf gets a bad rap in terms of expense. You can put your kid into a nice club for 500 bucks, and he/she can play 90 rounds, be outside all day with other kids, having a blast. Compare that to hockey - 500 bucks MAYBE puts you in a house league. Rep? You're talking thousands of dollars a year all in.

They're not allowed to use carts. And you picked the one guy who is obviously out of shape. There are others, but generally they are all pretty fit.

That won't happen for me. Maybe at 60 when I drive the ball 65 yards.

But you don't play and you have all of this figured out.. Amazing. Go find a nice long hilly course and play 18.. I bet you change your mind. Oh, and no cart.

I used to play 3-4 times a week when I golfed for free...now Im either too busy or dont want to fork over 60-80$ per round. Shot in the low 80s last year for the most part.
