Grabs was thrown a bone tonight after being benched. He failed both late in the third period and in the shootout.

It's quite safe to say that either through buyout or trade, he likely won't be around come fall.

PP misses Gardiner, though not many guys on this team's blueline have justified benching. 7 D perhaps?

- AngryWhiteMale

Wait what?

He missed on a break he created himself and a SO which everybody missed and that's given a bone?

I'd hate to be your dog.

Missing Lupul...

Can't afford Gardiner in these tight games... he is our worst defender... and hasn't learned... the press box is the right place for him now... once we get in the playoffs... then he will probably get another chance to prove that he has learned his lesson.

Yeah, pretty much! Give me more money or we'll separate! I say, nice knowing ya!
- PrinceLH

That has never been the main issue.

But I really don't want to get into this kind of discussion, it usually leads nowhere.

No better time to learn your craft then when your team is supposedly playing with house money. Then again the acquisition of O'byrne throws a wedge in that. I would almost send him down to the Mariles if he can't play here.

My dogs do very well thank you,

Grabs should never have been given a chance in the shootout in the first place. He had several turnovers and wasn't able to generate anything decent. He had one chance in front of Lundqvist and shot it right into his crest.

Meant Gardiner, not O'byrne... he's on a two-way if I'm not mistaken.

2-way contract has absolutely nothing to do with waivers. It's just salary.

Waivers is games played.

The folks with the #FreeGardiner campaign didn't realize he only had 3 games left on waivers... now it is pressbox or lose him territory...

Although I wonder after trade deadline.. do they still maintain the waiver wire?

Waivers is still in effect I would assume, otherwise teams would be sending players to their AHL affiliates.

unless it changed under new CBA - waivers wire still there, but they can't use him this season. So a team would claim him, but because rosters are locked, they own his rights but he has to sit out. Can't go down cause of waivers, but can't play cause it's past deadline. Counts as a Roster Spot though.

I believe this is regular season, and he could play playoffs.
