I dont think they will ban it entirely... I think something along the lines of 1 game suspension for a fight plus the team gets fined. Then depending on fights a player has he will get more games and increased fines. (Kinda like how the technical foul penalty in the NBA happens) - Bags502
Visors are coming and that does sound like a ban to me |

Too me that's pretty much banning it. - Vukota
It is and it isnt... Let them fight if something happens that the players need to settle on the ice but then they get kicked out, suspended and fined (and additional fights increase the suspensions and fines).... that sounds pretty good to me.
And if they really wanna stop it, then make it where the team has to play short-handed if the player is suspended for fighting... instead of dressing 20, only 19 can dress for the next game. Something along those lines.
But I hope they dont get rid of it because I like how the players police themselves to a certain extent. |

If NHL discipline was:
1) more severe
2) reasonably consistent
Players wouldn't feel the need to police themselves. Sadly, the NHL never seems to understand that. |

The Hart is the player most valuable to his team. So while Crosby has clearly been the best player in the NHL this season, is he really the most valuable player to his team in the entire league? I don't think so.
Same goes with Kane/Toews.
Players most valuable to their specific team? I would have to go with Stamkos, Subban and Eric Staal.
Personally I would give it to Subban. |

For all the talk, the actions by the NHL show pretty clearly that they have no concern for player safety. That is why players have to police themselves.
I've lost count of how many head shots and dangerous hits (and brutal high sticks or slashes) I have seen this season that have gone uncalled on the ice and unpunished off the ice. |

I'm a pens fan so I'm a little biased, but with how Malkin is playing this season, no way the pens go on a 15 game winning streak without Sid. Sid has taken over the game just like Malkin did last year when Sid was injured. Sid is doing exactly what Malkin did last year. He also made Kunitz and dupuis look like all stars. Kunitz actually had a chance for a rocket Richard before Sid got injured. |

Agreed. The MDZ on Neal hit is a perfect example. No call on the ice, no fine, no summary discipline. We can argue all we want about what MDZ's intent was, but the fact is it was a reckless play that resulted in an elbow to the head, and a concussion that will sideline one of the Penguins most important players for who knows how long. The NHL needs to stop legislating based on intent and legislate based on outcome. Since the NHL didn't punish MDZ with even a fine, anyone want to guess what might happen the next time the Rangers and the Pens meet? |

HB definitely has an "EK-coast" bias. But to be fair, the vast majority of fans on here are from the east coast markets, so Ek is playing to his base. |

How could you include Kadri, Subban and Ladd but not Getzlaf?
Do you watch a lot of SJ but no Anaheim? - God_then_kovy
That's what I was thinking. He can't watch much Ducks hockey.
Edit: not saying Getzlaf should win the Hart, but he should at least be in the discussion. |

Islanders can miss the playoffs just as easily with him and without. He's got over 20 goals but he's a-5. That's pathetic, he's a liability. |

Malkin shouldn't even be brought up talking about the Hart this year. 7 goals and not playing at last years level.
Tavares isn't at that tier and lets not make Tavares out to being good defensively. He's good but out of the young guys I would rather have Taylor Hall, Nazem Kadri, or Claude Girouix. There is a bunch of players that can easily be put in an argument of being better than him. - lloyd095
Now you're just being stupid.

Crosby hands down. His PPG this year is insane and Malkin is having a down year. |

First, to all those who say JT is nowhere near as great, JT has never had the teams/linemates Giroux, Hall, Kadri (who is overrated and won't reach ppg pace next year), Malkin have had. JT is having a better season than all 4 of them, and hes playing with two players who are slower than molasses. Moulson was a nobody before JT, and Boyes had like 15 pts last season. If JT had an elite or even close to elite first line winger, he could easily break 100 pts. There are only 2 players I'd take over JT right now and thats Stamkos and Crosby.
Second, Stamkos hands down deserves the Hart if Crosby does not win.
Ovi Points in a win: 21W- 22G 13A 35Pts. Losses: 19L-4G-5A-9Pts (and 14ppg total)
Stamkos in wins: 17W-14G-15A-29Pts. Losses: 22W-12G-9A-21Pts
If Hart is for MVP to their team in the league it has to be Stamkos

I don't even think Getz is the best player on the team. To me it would have to be Fasfth. Also, Getz has 13 goals; he would not be the same player without his teammates, for he would most likely have less assists |

His wingers carry him and inflate his numbers. Tavares is extremely overrated. I would trade Luongo for him since I'd take him as a 3rd line center which is what he really is. |
