The chinaman is not the issue here.
I'm saying that extending a player to trade him later is the oldes trick in the book, even though it clearly is not the oldest trick in the book. - slashtrash
Clearly Bergevin is pulling the good old sign and trade on DD.

I love how that basketball related term is now a proven hockey strategy according to some people. |

That's exactly not my point.
In the neer future, the Habs will want to play 27 at center. Plekanec won't go anywhere, that's pretty much a given. Galchenyuk will play an offensive role, so probably 2nd line (if you call Plekanec's line the 1st), so that leaves open spots on the 3rd and 4th line. Can you really see Desharnais play on a cheking, shut down line? I can't. - slashtrash
There is certainly a log jam at the top 3 center positions coming in the future.
I like DD, but at that point I think he will be moved, just don't know where.

No idea, but I'd guess few.
There is no advantage in it like there is in the NBA, where a player's original team can offer a bigger contract (form of legal cap circumventing) than any other team. |

I still don't see DD being traded...I wish but I have a feeling he will be a Habs 2 seasons from now. |
