Just because one moron leaves doesn't mean they all are. I'm going to assume by the time he's ready to turn pro, the oppurtunity to play is going to be greater in CGY then going somewhere else. |

College lacks the physical play. Hey good for him he's doing well there, but being good in College means nothing to me. Every year there I hear about studs from College and every year I see fails.
Andy Miele would be a good example. Marty Serich, Ryan Duncan, Peter Sejna etc... - Lahey
Also, I would be more concerned if he was putting up sick numbers in the CHL somewhere. NCAA is bigger, stronger, faster and older. The fact the he is putting up these numbers vs. that type of competition leads me to believe he will be able to have success in the NHL. |

So the only reason he won't have success in the NHL is "odds"??? Come on Lahey!!! - The-O-G
So why does he make it then? You really think a guy in a women's body is going to have a lot of success at the NHL level? It's rare. |

The overall skill level isn't there though. |

Has anything ever come out as to why Schultz didn't want to play in ANA?
Did they pressure him too much to quit school or something? |

A women's body? the Kid is 18! Most guys don't stop growing until they are around 21-22, he still hasn't been put into an AHL or NHL weight training program and likely doesn't have the time to do so at the moment because of school. Once he does turn pro his focus will be training and playing. He's likely to gain mass and will fill out more into the size player that you see with Gionta or St. Louis. All you focus on is size because you have nothing else to attack. |

Have zero idea, unless he was that pissed over Gardiner.
Not like ANA didn't have room for him this year. At the time they really had no d so they could've given him a spot. In hindsight he probably was better off to stay in ANA this year. |

The NCAA is the weaker way to go. Everyone knows it. You go there if you are a project or are smart enough to realize your odds of being a pro are next to nothing so you should get a degree.
Think some of you should go take a look at scoring leaders in the NCAA over the past years and see just how good those players are now. |

Seriously Lahey, I think you should tune in an watch a few NCAA games, it's not what it used to be. An NCAA team would destroy a CHL team. With that being said, I understand CHL teams are younger, so really it's not a fair comparison. But, it is stiffer competition, and the fact the JG can have so much success in the NCAA leads me to believe his size won't be an issue. I would be more worried if he was tearing up the CHL, because the opposition would be smaller, younger, weaker vs. NCAA.
Does that mean he will be an NHL superstar? No. Like you have said there are many successful NCAA players that haven't panned out (same can be said for many CHL players as well might I add) But I think it's less likely to be because of his size. |

So you are telling me teams that are in the WHL in the United States of America can only have 2 Americans?

Again. NCAA is where project players go or where guys that want an education go. |

There are lot's of prospects, large and small, from all leagues, with lots of skill, that don't make the NHL.
It's just the odds. |

I don't know what the numbers are but VERY few Americans play in the CHL. It's just a fact. Most of them play college hockey, not because it's the easier route, it's just the way they do it. |

Americans are slowly going to the USHL more. Hockey US or whatever it's called has really been working on this the past few years.

USHL > USNTDP Under 18 Team (For the best of the best) > NCAA
That's the traditional American route. |

Face it Lahey, you don't know jack sh!t about the NCAA.
Anyways, it's not a big deal. He may be good, he may not be. But the NHL has changed a lot in the past 5-6 years; more speed, more skill.
Time will tell. |

I agree that the NCAA is a weaker league skill wise, but you can't just deny talent based on past players. The kid proved he has what it takes when he played in the World Juniors, he scored the most goals out of anybody and that is playing against CHL, Swedish elite league, NHL (RNH and Huberdeau), and KHL level players. He played agains the big physical players and he help the States to a gold medal. He has the skill and he can deal with the bigger players. |

I wouldn't say he knows nothing, he's clearly done his research but I also do agree that he is ignoring the fact that the US development program has taken huge steps in the last few years and is only getting better.
