There's talent to be found everywhere in the draft. Detroit is the perfect example of that.

I have more confidence in this scouting crew than I did the old one.

Darcy has the assets to move up. Now we have to wait and see if he ends up needing to.

Its going to cost a lot more to move up Than people think. We will see, don't get your hopes up.

Doesn't have to be top 3. Even a top 5 would be good. And they may not even need to. I wouldn't doubt if they go on a 4 game losing streak now. It's how they've operated all season.

Agreed. if Van wants to stay at say 6m I say sign him. WE are all in a cloud as far as what this team will look like come October. I'm excited already cause I see it will be different.

If moving Vanek got us one of the top 3 picks, plus something else, I'd do it. I know Vanek isn't old, but he's already said he's not interested in sticking around for a rebuild. There's no guarantee that they'll be that much better next year. So then he's going to walk at the end of the season. I'd rather get something for him than lose him for nothing.

Contrary to what many people believe (including myself), I've been reading a lot of reports lately regarding the draft, and this draft wont be any more deep than last year. Its going to be "top heavy" but outside of that, nothing like the 2003 draft.

We still have steps before next season comes. Draft day is gonna be fun regardless of where we are in it .

Just think all these years . could have been Ruffs philosophy that made the team it was. New coach new everything . Some say RR is a ruff clone . I don't think so. He doesn't seem to care what the players contract or star status is . If you sucked last game you get demoted. I like it . Been a long time since we have seen that.

I don't think Vanek signs an extension and I would be too afraid to risk letting him walk at the end of the season. He doesn't want to stick around through a rebuild. I say get something for him to contribute to the rebuild then.

Yeah I think there will be plenty of top talent available in this draft. Everyone talks like it would be failure to not get Jones/MacKinnon/Drouin but there are extremely solid players going up until the 15 spot. You never know what will happen, sometimes late first rounders end up being better, its a gamble.

well id hope so, the youngsters are trying to make in the league. The better pay attention.

I think the fact that he hasn't played in the league is why everyone seems to get treated the same. He doesn't care if they're making $1 or $10,000,000. If he sees something he doesn't like, he has no problem stapling their ass to the bench.

It's possible. But at least there are changes being made. We've all complained that Darcy has been too idle in the past. Let's see what happens when he has to be aggressive about some things.

Ruff was here as coach when some of these guy were 2 ys old.
I bet they didn't gell well . and maybe Ruff had gotten burned out. Not from lack of talent. just the same walls every day.
