And Sabres management were trying to send a message to the players out there that the way of doing business was changed here in Buffalo . Myers was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. I guess he should have turned it down . Oh My that is too much . I cannot take all that money . He must have the same flaws Vanek has .
If it is offered - you take it . A career is one hit from being over . I do not understand all the haters . , I guess you would turn down a generous raise from your employers . Nice to be that righteous. I could not. - Maximum Signal
I am saying it was a poor contract, why are you putting words in my mouth about he shouldn't accept it?
Pretty obnoxious thing to do, I never said anything of the sort.

Now that I think about it... I really have heard that Burminstov's top potential is to be a shut down 3C... even though he might be a better 3C then we already have...
We do technically already have Kea, Girgensons, and/or Larsson who could fill that spot just as easily.
Also.. there is a reason why WPG is trying to trade him on his ELC.. either he could go back to Russia.. he his an a-hole in the locker room... or he is just showing signs of not reaching his potential.

I never wanted Okposo.... Okposo doesn't have as good of numbers as Stafford has had and for so many 100k more I would rather keep Stafford. - JVince11

He said on his radio program this afternoon, that Burmi for Stafford was on the table but Darcy wanted a draft pick to come back and Jets said no and the deal was nixed.

Has yet to impress me. - dadeadhead
I still would have liked to see them take a chance on some of the under acheivers that were moved. Ellerbe, Loktoinov, take a flier on some of these guys

Please , you knew exactly what I meant . It was directed at the all the hate around here at the contracts some guys get . You'd think it was coming directly out of some folks pocket .
The comment was not directed specifically at you. Just because the kid got the big signing bonus , everyone wants to tear him apart . You average that all out to a yearly contract.
This team is playing 100 % better and still you get this hate . I suppose if players were playing well above their current contracts we should tear it up and give them immediate raises. It should work both ways.

In the nfl it does, I guess.
It was bad management by Darcy, regardless of how nice and player friendly they wanted to appear. They paid well over market value.

Team not Myers directly. Yes Myers has been playing better but he has yet to even sniff how he was playing during his rookie season. It was a poor contract, and poor management by Darcy there. He tried to harness lightning in a bottle and it back fired.

50% blame on Myers, 50% on Lindy Ruff. Under Ruff he was a -7 with 1 goal and 0 assists. Under Rolston he is a +5 with 2 goals and 5 assists. I am willing to bet he plays at a high level next year with no attatchments to Ruff for a full off season and camp

And when some f these player makeover $70,000.00 PER GAME And a fan shells out 150.00 to see them play. Yes i think we can be critics . - cabin
Of course, but the same critics are the ones that want to give Thomas Vanek all the excuses in the world for not playing like a 7.2 million dollar forward for 6 years of his 7 year deal

In his case . he didn't negotiate that contract . It was a gift. Merry Christmas Thomas. He has done pretty good by it compaired to some of the other high paid players in the league.

7 points in 31 games makes him high level??? Thats 19 points over an 82 game season. Correct me if I am wrong but Ruff coached him his rookie season. Put him in every position to succed. Myers was so sheltered his rookie season and teams know his weaknesses now. No coach can hide that especially when it comes to being a franchise defensemen that he is supposed to be contract and all

Like I said . The way I see it Buffalo was trying to put on a show that cheapskate days were over here in Buffalo. Myers happened to be the lucky guy . Hopefully at some point he does live up to the contract . The potential is there.

8 points in 37 games works out to 17.7 pts over an 82 game season.
