I agree, but with that lower cap hit for the backup I think it is a better chance of Bryz staying.

Edit: I agree with Timmy P (oddly) it is either Briere or Bryz being bought out this summer. I think it will be Briere since our forward depth is our strength.

I could see briere or both. someone yesterday suggested an RFA offer sheet for bernier...would they match just to trade him anyway?

I think it's kinda impossible for the flyers to make the playoffs they pretty much have to go 10-0 to have a shot
- griouxmvp2012

Not entirely. Flyers have 2 games vs Islanders, 1 vs Jersey, 1(maybe 2) Vs Ottawa and 1 vs NYR. Those 5 are must win, you close the gap between all 4 teams plus Ottawa is struggling and I can see them dropping out

Didn't you hear? Ben Bishop was awarded the Vezina last night.

Make sure you don't read the Lightning blob, it mentions weak goals and Bishop in the same sentence!

There's no better time than now for Lauridsen to get his feet wet in the NHL, though. The Flyers aren't jumping over four teams in 10 games to get a playoff spot. I'd rather hold my breath now than in games that count. He's getting a taste of the speed and power of the NHL game. Not a bad thing.
- bodiva88

I can't argue with giving Lauridson some space at the NHL level. But with Grossmann back I think that's only going to happen when we write off this season. And it's obvious management hasn't yet. So tomorrow I expect Bryz to start, Grossmann to be in and Lauridson out. The last 2 weeks we might see both Lauri and Mason a lot more if we are definately out. Hell if we were out I would have been happy bringing up Wellwood, but looks like that's gone out the window. Damn shame. Hope he recovers quickly.

I don't think they are going to trade him now.... and I don't think it's going to be as difficult as everyone thinks to move Briere. Remember the Islanders just traded valueable assets for Tim Thomas's empty contract just to hit the cap floor. A guy like Briere who can still play at a high level with a contract that has a bigger cap hit than his actually salary is going to look like a steak dinner to some teams trying to make the floor. And that's IF we wanted to move him, and if he wanted to be moved.
- flyler

You're ignoring Briere's NMC

Not surprised at the Mason extension. There was little chance he was getting north of $2mm in AAV.

He doesn't really have that rep, though, even with the latest incident. Downie (and Zac Rinaldo's) main jobs even before the NHL were to stir things up. Laughton has a hard-nosed rep but is thought of more as a shutdown center than someone who goes looking to cause trouble.

Do you honestly beleive that Bobrovsky is the front runner for the Vezina?
- MJL

Apparently he's in the mix.

And why would you ask that question the day NHL.com posts this story:

Bobrovsky's surge makes him Vezina frontrunner

I'm sure he is in the mix. And I wouldn't go by an NHL.com fluff peice.

Fluff piece. Stats. Whatever.

Still, you're question was whether or not Bobs is a front-runner, and he clearly is. ie, in the mix, near the top of the list, etc. So I'm not understanding your question.
