Seeing how the SE is such poop this year, a low third rounder would have been legitimately not worth it, even for the infection. I think he'll be worth more this summer, he'll be looked at like a rehab project... not a good risk for a team trying to make the playoffs. - BuffaJoe
I want Stafford gone but I would think he's worth more then a 3rd round pick, I figured a player. |

Bingo. The same can be said for the likes of Ennis and Hodgson. They're most effective when they're allowed to do what they do best. I'm tired of trying to make skill guys into "two-way players". Danny Briere was weak defensively, so he played a style that made it not matter. He didn't convert his game. - buffalofan19
that is why you have to have linemates or a d pairing that compliments that player..
Tallinder stayed home and could of basically not ever crossed mid ice which allowed Myers free roam...
Ehrhoff, Sekera, etc that he has been paired with now... not the same..
This is where I think a guy like Ryan O'Bryne would be nice...
McNabb and Myers played together at prep school for a year as linemates

Just unloading Stafford's salary is a plus. They should have taken whatever - 2nd or a 3rd. - jacquescloutier
I agree, but what do we really lose in terms of this season if we wait until the summer for a potentially better return? Pretty much nothing. Who cares if he sticks around another 9 games that mean nothing. |

It's pretty much a fact that multiple players on this team have been much better since Ruff left. Myers included. His game has been better. I have said this for 2 years that Ruff was the cancer, not Roy, Connolly, Miller Etc |

Don't know if you read Spector's site or not but he mentioned that a deal for Stafford to Caps was almost done at the deadline and the Sabres backed out. He said it was for a2nd or 3rd round pick for Stafford. Not me saying this it;s what I read. - SABRES 89
i can forgive this for a few reasons:
1. they needed players for this season still. they had 1 callup remaining and maybe even approaching cap floor
2. need people next season, too. for cap floor/whatever. especially if they trade miller/vanek
3. he did score 30 goals. his cap hit is irellevant now that they are nowher close to the cap. maybe start him fresh w/ new coach and remove the burden of alternate captain and see what he can do.
also, i heard myers is best friends with stafford and pouted about him being possibly traded. (frank)ing myers |

I think there's more to it. I've been saying for years: if a guy like Henrik Tallinder is the key to your success, you are not the stud that everybody thinks (and hopes) you are. |

Come on man, did you see his sick spin-o-rama backhander? I say we re-up him 4 years 18 million. He's got it in the tank. - BuffaJoe

Drew Doughty has had a worse year than Myers up until a few weeks ago when they switched his partner. Doughty at one point through 20 games was a -10 with 0 goals and he makes 7 million. Is that because he's regressing? Or becasue the team wasn't playing great defense and he was the youngest? |

another solid way of looking at the spectrum....
On a related note... I want us to resign Pardy instead of Sulzer to be our bottom pairing or 7th dman... |

The only thing that's worse than Milbury is that dippoop Liam McHugh who just agrees with whatever Milbury has to say. That guy knows literally nothing about hockey. When they brought him in to do the broadcast, he had never covered hockey before. |

Bring up Hackett, shut Miller down for the season. Tell the team to lose and get that pick. This winning thing is just salt in the wound at this point. |

Milbury is a joke period . How NBC has him as an expert announcer is beyond me . He did such a great job as a GM for the Islanders . His bias is ridiculous . His commentary last night . He did not one good thing to say about the Sabres or the organization . Gee Mike maybe we should hire you to run it , LOL . We would be an AHL franchise in no time . Why don't you go sucker punch some kid . You are good at that.

I listened to the third period and overtime online last night and the Rochester announcers seemed impressed.

I watched Pardy stand there and thumb himself several times last night while the play just went right past him |
