I think its up in the air as to intent, thus no fine or suspension warrented. to hard to tell during such a fast game. bummer though. to all those cheering a player getting injured though, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Definitely worthy of suspension ... reckless use of his elbow ... Del zootto ... even with his back turned ... luanches him self up and backwards ... and even swings his arm ... knowing the impending hit from behind is about to come ...

Sounded like you were agreeing that NYR won't get any
Suspensions this year. No?

So how does stating the Leagues and Shanny's bias make my opinion bias. Quite the conundrum. If I wasn't a canucks fan lets say a Winnipeg fan would me stating the same be bias? My opinion is towards the league not the rangers or the canucks. Bias no. If so then just being a hockey fan makes both our opinions bias and irrelevant.

Not only does he see Neal coming... but as he turns away and braces for the hit he tracks Neal's reflection in the glass and pin points his chin...the rest they say is history

He11 no. Remember last year in the playoffs Neal ? It's called poetic justice!!! No sympathy for a guy who's dirty himself. I loved it when he looked up and said, "What Happened" Maybe next time, when you remember what ice looks like, you'll not be a cheap shot artist yourself

At the rate you (those that think this should result in a fine and/or suspension) should go watch women's hockey from this point on.

Stop trying to turn this awesome sport into a game for pussies.

I like the Penguins and absolutely HATE the Rangers but I don't see a suspension or even really a penalty there.

I can see a penalty cause I see it similar to a high stick. It's unfortunate that an injury occurred.

Shouldn't you be watching the Flyers game or something?

P.S. They are losing.

it's not poetic justice. just like it wouldn't be poetic justice if schenn gets cross checked in the back after a whistle and gets hurt. if poetic justice factors in, then what offense did philly commit to justify them not winning a cup in so long?

Neal did the same exact thing to Hamonic about a week earlier.

unfortunately the precedent has already been set with Kronwall... doing anything going backwards, much much worse than this hit is not a suspension ....

Kronwall doesnt swing his elbows up at the guys head when he realizes the player is trying to get around him on the other side. Was his intention to connect with the guy in the head and concuss him? I highly doubt that at all. However, he has to be responsible for his play.

Cant believe thats not even a 2 minute minor for elbowing at the least. An errant high stick that draws blood is a double minor, but wildly throwing your elbows about is "just a hockey play".... oh, okay.

I don't like the elbow use, but it definitely isn't directed at the head, unless of course Del Zotto has eyes in the back of his head.

Not suspension worthy IMO. I guess a fine if you want to say "No elbows allowed at all", but definitely no suspension.

He knew exactly where Neal was and backwards jump motion. Worthy of 2 games + fine. No player over the age of 12 swings their elbows back like that. This isn't skiing

Well, according to everyone Lupul is injury prone, so Neal must be too.

So, if a player has had a few injuries in their career, that means there's a green light to charge them, and strike their head.
