Are Canuck fans prepared to possibly go Roy 2C kes 3C , and just let kesler play shutdown, the guy has not played a lot of hockey over the past year so is it fair to him to expect the kesler from the Nashville series to be back in full force ? I feel like many fans are thinking he will jump right back into it with no rust
- Redmile247

It will take time for 2nd line form but his tenacity and skill level will get him there quick. His mental game will be there right off the hop his body will take time to catch up.

I think Kes will get a ton of minutes against the other team's top line. I'm not gonna # the C's, but i'm sure there are times when we'll see 2 on the ice together. Kes and Hank will eat up approximately 40 minutes so that doesn't leave much for Roy, Lappy.

Hey Redmile,

Posted this question on the Flames board, but it seems pretty barren in there today;

Is it pretty much a certainty that Kipper retires this year? Just want to know whether I should drop him in my keeper league.

I bet he keeps playing back in Finland unless he gets the contract he wants.

For sure. AV loves to have 2 C's on the ice late in games also.

Yeah, I figure he's still got enough left in him to keep playing, but just wants be closer to home.

Just need to make a decision on whether to drop him for a forward or D if he's not going to be in the NHL next year, because it's the last day to do roster moves in my one pool.

I'd drop him fir sure , all the radio guys seem to be under the impression he is done , Keenan said when he was there the last year on kippers deal was a no play , and even if he does play how many games will he get and what will the team look like in front of him .... just not worth it if you can get someone more reliable

I'm more than fine with that. If Roy maintains this level of play then it makes perfect sense with Kesler coming off injury and needing some time to get his game back.

Maybe him and Roy could work , Roy seems more like a passer then kesler

Cheers. I already have three other goalies, although none are exactly elite anymore (Emery, Backstrom, Brodeur), and it's tough finding good starters in this league. I can definitely use the roster spot for another F or D, though.

Already have Emery, Backstrom, and Brodeur.

Not really any future starters available, either. Fasth is on waivers, but not available to pick up until after the rosters are already locked.

The guy in last place stock piled all the potential future #1's like Markstrom, Bernier, etc., for next year. Guy has 7 goalies.

Have to think TO might be interested (might want a veteran, though), Phx is a possibility if they don't re-sign Smith, Buf might be in the market if they part ways with Miller and don't think Enroth is capable. LA might even hold on to him another year.

Tough to say. Lots could still happen between now and the draft.

Hate the cap dropping... Reduces the amount of players you would like to add...
But it will be nice to see our rooks playing next year

I thing the aging players will be most effected by it. Many factors make me feel this way. Its to bad. Superstar players will still get the big buck leaving mid level core players getting the shaft and young players taking more spots due to GM's continuing to over pay and over value some players. I'm not blaming the players for taking the money offered I would. GM's have to be smarter though.

He is RFA so I can't imagine them keeping him unless he really wants to stay there , offer sheet could be a possibility too
