I was always hoping jussi would get picked up by the pens. I think he will be huge in the playoffs. He can be solid anywhere. Morrow seems invisible. Malkin looks lost. They are missing letang a ton. Gotta keep him.
- sammy87

Honestly, the Jokinen pick-up could be the most significant of the bunch. It's really stunning the 'Canes (in a free fall) dumped him for nothing....and we're willing to eat salary too. He's a good player. Very versatile.

I'm really starting to believe Malkin needs a hard working, puck retrieving guy on that line. They need to clone Kunitz. At least get Kunitz up there 'til Sid gets back. I wouldn't mind seeing Iggy with Sid anyway.

There is absolutely no reason to rush anybody back to the line-up. They are a virtual lock for one of the top 2 seeds. Like I said yesterday. Send a couple of these guys to the beach for a week. Rest Up!

I find it ironic pens fans want a suspension on MDZ but will continue to support that clown Cooke. Karma always comes back to bite, hence why Cindy is out with another soft injury. Btw OVIE IS BACK HATERS HAHAHA!!! He will win his 3rd MVP this season, book it.

I wonder how Jordan Staal thinks things are going in Carolina, if he regrets his decision....

I wonder if Carolina expected more production then they are receiving.....

It's cold, but its a response that needed to be made. Brayden Schenn is reckless. He needs to be taught a lesson, supposedly just like James Neal. Just responding to a post from an idiot Flyer fan who thought Neal deserved it.

Shenn needs to be taught a lesson as well. He is dirty as well. So, Neal is dirty, but Shenn gets over-excited in intense games? See where I'm going?

Classy, hoping a guy tears his ACL.

I believe his point was, Neal has taken some cheap shots of his own.

Anyway, how's Karlsson doing? And Savard, how'd his career go after Cooke went head-hunting?

edit: if Schenn is "dirty", wtf does that make Cooke?

My problem with this play is he chose to throw an elbow instead of playing the puck even though it was pretty much on his stick.

He definitely sees him. I think we need to hire Eugene Melnyk to prove Del Zotto's intent.

He doesn't leave his feet until after contact, he doesn't leap into Neal.

DZ was bracing for impact. It was reckless. Definitely should have been a penalty. I'm not sure how nothing was called. And I could see a fine, but not a suspension.

You got to love Flyers fans of all people coming over here and lecturing us about dirty players.

Two words Chis Pronger..... One of the dirtiest mother F'rs to ever lace them up. People want to talk about karma... I present you with Chris Pronger and his current issues.

- madmike71

In terms of dirty players, I'll see your Chris Pronger and raise you Darius Kasparaitis.

Every team has had their fair share of players that are considered dirty.

And Pronger played one - and only one - complete season with the Flyers.

And Malkin is pretty f'n dirty. Just ask Giroux and Couts.

Ask Willie Mitchell.

I'm pretty sure the guy's not playing cuz he's won the Cup.

Malkin ruined him.

But no other fanbase on hockeybuzz is reminded of how dirty their team is as we are. If Cooke even looks at someone we get trolls. If Crosby engages in a scrum we get trolls. If Malkin takes a run of the mill 2 minute high sticking penalty we get trolls. And unfortunately they flock from either the Ranger or Flyer boards more than other teams.

Just look at Wolfhounds, he's been bringing up the same Malkin attempted elbow at Giroux for two seasons now.

Well what about Cooke?

Is that the best you got?

Cookie is awesome, he went all 1 man gang against the Islanders, killing off a 2 man advantage then getting the go ahead goal.

Of course why would you ever see that? All you see is what makes a lame argument on HB from 2 years ago.

The "dirty player" debate is the most hypocritical and idiotic debate in hockey. Just about every player on every team has done something overboard in their career. If it happens against your team they are branded as dirty players for life, but if it's one of your players who did it, it's overlooked or excused somehow.

Let's just drop the sanctimonious bull$hit about karma or "my guy is not as dirty as your player because he did something last year against our guy" garbage.

Fans defend their players and are quick to attack rival players for the same crap. It's no different than stupid political arguments.

Yeah.... things aren't going that well there, and they had to dump Jokinen because of Semin's extension.

The Pens are in a much better position as far as the cap and prospects because of that deal.

If someone did that to one of my guys I'd want something to happen but if you look at the play Del Zotto was just being reckless. I think he felt the pressure then shoved his elbow back there not knowing Neals head was gonna get slammed.

When you elbow someone with your back to them, your typically not gonna get suspended

- wheresthesoda

I'm kind of in line with your general view, only I'd like you to explain how its possible to elbow someone standing anywhere but behind you.

Yes, the numbers on mdz's back were created by google, and mdz saw him the whole time.

Can anyone tell me why Neal was skating to the right when the puck was to Mdz's left? Neal, as a reckless headhunter, should bring more control to his otherwise fine game. He certainly brings the skill, but lacks some basic intelligence.

Cheers!

- Daman

Probably because he is hoping Malkin will chip the puck into the righthand corner. Both Morrow and Malkin were headed for the puck, so Neal is going to open space...its called anticipation...just like MDZ anticipated that Neal would try to get around him, and threw the reckless elbow.

No No No.... Only Crosby dives! I'm telling you Oneonta, you need to get with the program. Don't bring up things like Claudia's crying about broken wrists last summer either.

Or there's this... http://sports.yahoo.com/b...ame-5-head-193737288.html

You've got to realize only Matt Cooke throws nasty head shots. Nobody on the Flyers board wants to hear about the Richards/Booth head shot (equally as bad). Richards was just playing on the edge in an intense game.....so.......

I just realized that Bill Guerin played on teams with Morrow, Jokinen and Douglas Murray. He is also the guy who likely has spent the most time with the prospects that were dealt. Gotta think he had considerable input on the trades.

I really do enjoy the Flyer fans complaining about dirty play. These are the same people that cheered when Hatcher thought it was cool to hit Crosby in the mouth. They looooved when it was their guys playing dirty, but when it happens back to them, they are the first to cry about it. Your whole franchise is based on being dirty, and most of them cry when rolls are reversed. Now that they have a really skilled star, they will see what its like to have a guy targeted over and over again. I know they had EL, but that dude didn't stand a chance in Philly.
