I think Jensen. He doesn't look quite ready and they need toughness on the 4th line more than they need a developing Power Forward. Save Jensen in case of injury down the stretch. He will have his opportunity next year.
- docmorgan

I hope that Jensen will at least get some minutes down in the Wolves this time though. 12 minutes a night isn't going to do it.

If Jensen plays more than 5 games, he burns a year on his contract. He'll be sent down before that.

I think last night was a big exhale from the trade deadline. There was so much trade speculation leading up to the deadline, especially with Luongo, that now that it is over the guys can just play hockey. I also think Roy injected a little life into the team and it looks like Kassian's "lesson" was heard.

I hope this team has the same enthusiasm in a week and a half.

They can only play Jensen 3-4 more times this season before it counts as a full year against his EL contract. For that reason alone he's not likely to be around once Kesler is ready to return. Not sure if games in the playoffs also count against the slide on his contract but if that's the case then he's not likely to be called up for playoffs either. More likely Bill Sweatt.

Reason for that last loss to the Oilers due to fatigue was also an excuse for the Canucks playing their 5th in 7 games and coming out really flat. The Oilers are supposed to be a young team so I won't chalk this one up just completely to fatigue, but of course having two days off compared to just a few hours for the Oilers made a difference. Another factor was that this a veteran team that got smoked 4-0 last game against the young Oilers so you knew that they were going to play them tough in their home building last night and oddly enough they beat them with the exact same score.

Roy instantly makes this team better in many ways, this guy IMO instantly becomes the 3rd most skilled forward on this team behind the Sedins
plus he has more speed and better one-on-one moves, also becomes the second best playmaker behind Henrik. He finally gives this team a legit 2nd line center for the first time this season without Kesler and is the type of center that actually makes his wingers better which is why the Booth injury really sucks since Booth is the type of winger that really needs a center like that to thrive meanwhile Higgins and Hansen have done well this season playing with guys like Schroeder, Lapierre and Ebbett. I'm very excited to see this team once Raymond and Kesler are back, that's even more speed and offense added. Hopefully Booth is ready to go by round one, but that seems unlikely.

I thought Garrison and Bieksa looked dominant defensively against the smaller Oiler forwards. Garrison has been a rock in his own zone after taking some time to adjust, I was panicking about that signing after the first few games but he's earning it right now. I guess the advanced stats were right about this one.

Higgins had a great game, the guy brings it every night just like Hansen and both of those two have been huge to this team, I hope they keep it up once Raymond and Kesler are back.

Barker is just awful IMO, lacks defensive awareness and for an offensive d-man he doesn't do much with the puck. Even on that odd man rush where Kassian fed him the puck, he wasn't fast enough to get there and then made a brutal pass back to the blueline even though all 3 forwards were right in the net and I believe it was Kassian or Jensen that was open in the slot looking right at him. Give me Alberts, or preferably a healthy Ballard over Barker anyday of the week.

Based on Vintage1970's final standing predictions (which I think are pretty good, even without my Oilers squeezing in), it makes for some interesting Matchups.
My Predictions:
Round 1
Chicago VS St.Louis
Chicago in 5.Blues goaltending is suspect.Chicago should be healthy.
Anaheim VS Detroit
Anaheim in 4
I just don't think Detroit can handle the size up front.
Minnesota VS Vancouver
Canucks in 7. Most competitive series in 1st round. And most boring.
San Jose Vs Los Angeles
LA in 6.Los Angeles is missing something this year, but then again, San Jose is missing something every year.Best matchup of smash mouth hockey in the 1st round by far.

Round 2
Chicago VS Vancouver
Chicago in 7.Best series in all the 2013 playoff's. Real dirty.
Anaheim Vs Los Angeles
Anaheim in 5.LA doesn't find that thing they are missing.

WCF
Chicago VS Anaheim
Chicago in 6.Very tough series, but Chicago is just that little bit better. Toews leadership is the difference.

Actually looked like a TEAM playing last night. Roy looks really good, would even consider touching base with his agent to see what he would be looking for in a contract for a few years. Would like to see him with Kesler on his wing, and the way Kassian played last night you could make him the other winger.

Not sure who I would like to play when playoffs start, no real easy match ups, would like to see a first round victory in games to build some momentum and not wear the team out too much.

Yeah, Jensen does just not look ready to me. He didn't have any horrible turnovers or defensive mistakes, but his decision making needs to be quicker at this level and he basically plays with a PP, or over-patient mindset with in the offensive zone at even strength and that's why he lost the puck many times when he tried to control it. Apparently the game is a lot slower and patient in Sweden with the bigger ice surface, plus the game is also a lot faster than in junior hockey so he just needs to adjust and get caught up. I think he'll be much more prepared to contribute next season.

Hard to say if it was an overpayement yet since all the Sabres got back were picks and prospects that haven't done anything in the NHL yet. But just purely from trade and asset value right now, I would have to agree. It's funny how Roy and Pominville have been scoring at basically the exact same PPG pace and yet the prices were so much more different, I get that Pominville had another year and was considered to be a more complete player but I bet Joe Nieuwendyk regrets not holding out for a bit more.

I'm not going to read to much into last night's win. The team had some jump and Roy seemed to add a much needed offensive boost. But, we played the Oilers who are still very young and not so deep.

kind of a bad situation for jensen to come in to.. You can tell he's missing the bigger ice a bit, and instead of having someone who can find him in the right spot with the puck he has lapierre dropping it to him at the blue line and expecting him to handle through the offensive zone with no real easy outlets.. not really the coaches fault, becuase we need the wins right now, but he should be with roy/shoeder and just go stand by the circle and wait for the one timer until his confidence is up a bit, and he's more cumfortable navigating the smaller ice

Yeah, it's way too soon to call this team a contender until we see how they play down the stretch with a more healthy lineup and against more rested and deeper teams. Hard not to be excited about the Roy addition right now though, it seemed like the only way this team could score anymore was from the cycle or just setting up in the offensive zone, but Roy seems to thrive on scoring off of the rush and that's something that this team really needed. The guy has been close to a PPG player(especially if you throw out his off-year in Buffalo) so he's going to help more than some of the doomsday fans thought he would. I still believe that adding a guy like Torres would have added that other missing element of a punishing forward since Kassian is still inconsistent.

I hope Jensen gets a fair few games here down the stretch. If he can find his footing at the NHL level he may be able to provide a spark for us in the playoffs when called on. I have Grabner in mind from a few years back when saying this.
