Any update on him? I'm guessing that they will be OVERLY cautious with him (and rightly so).

I haven't heard anything other than that they acknowledged it was indeed a concussion.

Probably will use the all too familiar language "no timetable"

Man... with his history and the Bruins seeing what Savard went through, I would be surprised if he was back at all this season.

Sucks...

Looking at Malkin's numbers over the years, his number of shots on goal per game has steadily risen every season he's been in the league.

Although it's a much smaller sample size, this year's shots per game number is the lowest it's been since his rookie year.

Also, besides his injury shortened 2010-11 season, his points per game are the lowest in his career.

Depends on Bergeron, he is so important to their success. One of few forwards who can shut Crosby down (Zetterberg being another that comes to mind).

You can't shut crosby down you can only contain him.

A very good read on Jagr... This guy straddles the line between fascinating, eccentric and bumhole.

You're welcome... I really like how it's written too (except for messing up the chronology with the Cup years).

I might be wrong but I believe that Rob Rossi's tabloid style journalism was the one that was pumping lifeblood into the Jagr flying into Pittsburgh to sign a contract storyline in July 2011.

I think without Rossi's shoddy journalism Jagr would not be perceived as "spitting in the organizations face".

Jagr took the money. The Penguins could have signed him for that same amount if they wanted, they didnt. To me it's not a big deal, he's a mercenary at this point. Pay for him or don't get him. This defines "it's business, not personal" IMO.

poor Bufoon. I agree with what you said about Rossi being a sensationalist piece of garbage at times (I raised your words a little )....and yeah, Jagr is all about the money and he's awessome.

I think that it was the time of the year too... Right before July 1st, after an early playoff exit, there was absolutely nothing going on as far as UFA's, or Penguins hockey in general. We all just got sucked into it, because there was nothing else to occupy us.

This is exactly right.

I never took it as "spitting in our faces". I think people believed Jagr would take a "hometown discount". However, I think it's pretty obvious, he doesn't consider Pittsburgh his "hometown".....even if his greatest years were spent here. Some people also view signing with Philly as treasonous. Even if I didn't like it, I realize he was going to the highest bidder.

As Gunner pointed out, the Pens didn't pay what others were going to... if they offered 3.3 mil and Jagr still chose the Flyers over Pens... it would then make it abundantly clear that he and Mario aren't exactly buds and he doesn't give a crap about the past, moreso he just doesn't wanna open up old wounds.

If he turned down an identical offer to go to the Flyers instead of the Pens, my tune would be different.

Now we start Bortuzzo over Despres. Just trade him in the offseason.

It's amazing how ugly that looks when you take out Letang and Martin. I know Despres has had a couple of shaky games, but having Bortuzzo and Eng start instead of him is fricking stupid.

Let's hope the forwards do some vicious back checking tonight!

But then again he said he would play for free for Mario. He hurt a lot of us on making the choice to go to Philly...but I still think he's a helluva player.

What in the (frank) is the deal with Chris Davis? He's got to be setting some records.
