Brassard's good and the Rangers are normally where stars go to fail. He just might be one that will succeed in the big city under the pressure in the gardens. There certainly is enough support talent to get the puck to him on the back end and he will get his chance to prove himself on the PP, so the first line is his to win or lose. He could be with Nash and Richards or Stepan and a rotation. Might be just what Nash needs as well to start putting up larger numbers as Brassard is they type of player that can provide a spark to a line.

However I can't help but feel that Columbus got the better end of the deal. I know this was in many ways a salary dump for an injury prone player that was probably demoralizing in his play and needed a change of scenery. Regardless, Columbus not only got a player capable of roughly a point a game for Brassard and a dman they had little room for, they also got 2 prospects out of toronto for it. Whether either guys are any good, I have no idea but I am thinking that the pick going should have been a lot higher than 6. I was surprised it wasn't a 6 and a first.

Time will tell but I think the 30 year old Gaborik has a brighter future on any team than Brassard does. You could put brassard with Stamkos, Malkin and have Crosby and Gireux play the point and I don't think his future would be as bright as Gaboriks. However Sather's buy the biggest names strategy has finally changed, maybe that is a good thing. That never really works.

Voracek actually played well last season and all of this one....Brassard has 1 sweet game under his belt, ok Pierre Maguire

hey, even Stevie Wonder can see some potential parallels in the careers of Voracek and Brassard right about now

Brassard was one of my targets for the 'Hawks. Dorsett too for that matter. But Stan having his hands held by John-Mr-Beanie-Baby-Buddy-McDonough prevented this and other moves to put the 'Hawks in a favorable position to win the cup....again.

you can't judge potential on 1 game, or even a hand ful of games....remember the potential of Petr Prucha

I think people hate the Rangers so much that it affects their common sense.

If Detroit had acquired Brassard, it would be "cool" to predict he would become a 70 point player in the league

This seems awfully similar to the Flames being "Scary good" after 1 good game against the Flyers after the O.Jokinen aquisition.

Sorry Brassard, but the Ek curse has just been placed upon you.

Voracek was good even when he was palying for the Jackets, I'm pretty sure he would of eventually become the player we see today if it wasn't for Howson ejecting him to Philly ofr Carter.

Now that being said , I find it intriguing that Brassard pulled of the sort of preformance he did. In his rookie year he was almost a point per game but Hitch (based on a rumor ) forced him to drop the gloves against Neal, he got injured in the process and since then he wasn't the same.

Maybe he got that lost confidence back I don't know or perhaps the Pens were a tired team and also they weren't expecting to face a revamped Rangers squad.

well, point wise, as Jackets, it's pretty much apples and apples with Voracek and Brassard. I don't think there is any disputing that. The stats are eerily similar.

Vorachek
08-09 CBJ 80 games 9G 29A
09-10 CBJ 81 games 16G 34A
10-11 CBJ 80 games 14G 32A
11-12 PHI 78 games 18G 31A
12-13 PHI 37 games 16G 22A

Brassard
08-09 CBJ 31 games 10G 15A
09-10 CBJ 79 games 9G 27A
10-11 CBJ 74 games 17G 30A
11-12 CBJ 74 games 14 G 27A
12-13 CBJ 34 games 7 G 11A

Boy their numbers are pretty similar.

I don't think either of them played much with Nash in CBJ, but Voracek is playing with Giroux and Brassard played a bunch with Richards.

I think Brassard will also help Richards out of the funk he has been in all season. Voracek won't make Giroux better.

I love what the Rangers did at the deadline. The team has improved and added depth.

Other than Nash, the manhood on the Rangers team is questionable at best.

Just b/c NYC sells the man purse, doesn't mean each player on the Rags has to have one.

Crosby would be a perfect fit on NYR, come to think of it.

The man creamed his pants over a back up goalie, a goalie who is worse than the one Homer traded to the jackets.
