Only if you discount his first game. Penalty on his first shift, lmao...
- FlyersGrace

I've discounted his first game

once they lost lupul you had to figure we were gonna see a lot of kadri, kessel and jvr
- isaiah520

True...
I do wish Lupul a swift recovery. The hit looked clean to me. But I'm biased.

the schenn bros are really starting to be a true positve on the team

Brayden has certainly made large strides in the defensive end, and the changes Lava has made with team play has helped him

I'd likely soil myself on my first shift, followed by a delay of game penalty for not moving. So I don't put too much weight on it.

You referring to Bill's title? I believe that's a reference to 4 wins in a row.
And the 5 - 2 in the first sentence is prolly just a typo.

I certainly feel better about his play than a Brandon Manning when he came up. I hope I feel about him like I did about MAB before his injuries about his ability to play in this league when the season is over.

Which is why they picked up JVR. Obviously.

would be nice to have Sbisa at this point... he's been rock steady for the Ducks

They're sheltering him vs. weak competition. It's likely the only reason he's doing "well".

Really loving the play of Luke Schenn of late. Blossoming into quite a defenseman with the extra responsibilities he's taken on in the absence of others.
- bradleyc4

yep totally agree. he is taking on major minutes and while he may have hiccups here and there as all players do, he has been a rock. you can see his confidence growing so much

Me too.

And now would be a great time for his brother to assert himself, offensively.

I thought Couturier had a very strong game. If you were basing it only on last night's game you would say he is a superior player this year compared to last.

Young players grow in fits and starts. Bishop was amazing last night. But, it would have been a mistake to deal Couturier for Bishop. Now if Ottawa wants to talk about Lehner it might be a different story.

The younger players have all benefited from the changes lava has employed first and foremost being a stronger presence defensively in the neutral zone. That's where couts will make his bread and butter in this league, forcing turnovers in the neutral zone

Really nice run of wins lately. I hope that Kimmo is not seriously injured. Been really impressed with the D over the last few games despite how many injuries they have had to deal with.

It was.

The 4th goal was poop, but that hit was legal.

I think it has more to do with the team as a whole finally committing to defense than the members of the patchwork D somehow being an improvement on the regulars who are missing. When everyone plays D, the individual components all look better.
- bmeltzer

Absolutely. And if they had a healthy Coburn, Meszaros, and Grossmann. They'd be even better right now.

Im surprised to say it, but I thought Huskins played a really strong game. He shut down a few 1 on 1 rushes like a veteran should. Hall and even Rosehill had good games too... Homer almost looks like a genius for a game.

BTW, any one else see that Cousins rape trial was tossed? He's reporting to the Phantoms... Now that its all over (and maybe not for the right reasons), maybe we can trade him for something at the draft

Goalie was WAY out of the crease and yeah he got brushed but I'm not convinced it was goalie interference. We've seen much nastier goalie interference slide...
It looked worse cuz Reimer played it up and was slow to get back into position.
