Mason will be a short term project. I live in London and I remember him killing it as a Knight.

Stolarz is a long term project.

In the OHL playoffs with the London Knights he is 4-0 with 1.57 GAA and .946% after a 1st round sweep.

Flyers Buzz.

If Philly are seriously going to buy out Bryz and anoint Mason their hero then I look forward to seeing them out of the playoffs again next season.

Any goaltender that lands on Philly's radar needs to re-evaluate his life goals and find a new vocation.

Interesting

"As you know, the Columbus Blue Jackets have been pretty awful this year and part of that misery has been the brutal play of starting goalie Steve Mason.

Would you believe that Mason’s poor play may have resulted because he was wearing pads that were too small? It’s true according to Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch, and Mason’s reasons for not wearing fitting pads are unreal.

“I never knew I could,” Mason said. “If I knew, I would have done it three years ago. I guess I was a little out of the loop on that kind of stuff. But we’ll make it work now.”

Mason says the old pads would leave him with bruises after getting hit with pucks in the ribs so often. Picture that if you will, playing goal with padding too small leaving more gaps in coverage to get hit by pucks being shot at 90-100 miles-per-hour at you. You might be pretty awful in goal too if your job was abusing you that way.

Not surprisingly, Mason’s numbers have improved since switching to the new equipment. Since making the switch he’s gone 7-3-1 and his numbers are more befitting that of a starting NHL goalie. If Mason can close out the season as strong as he’s playing now, it makes you wonder what might’ve been had he been more on top of things from the get go."

I often wonder about the reasons some people offer up such important and valuable posts! They have nothing else in their lives worth their attention, and one can oly assume like seeing ANYTHING they've written on the Internet.

One thing no one here has offered up for discussion regarding the Flyers goaltending woes, is their goalie coaches. When Bryz is a vezina trophy runner up one year, he gets traded here and couldn't stop a beach ball, it's something that needs to be looked at. Yes, I know the defense is porous, but he goes down every time, and the shooter beat him up top over and over. Shouldn't his coach see these things. Another recent offering: Bobrovsky less than average in Philly, goes to Columbus, and looks stellar! Is it me, or do wee need to look at a guy like Ottawa's goalie coach. They had three guys who looked great all year. If there are gonna keep Bryz, he his coach from Phoenix, Sean Burke. Or grab a proven goalie coach from another team, because Pokie Reese (flyers goalie coach) has not gotten it done since he's been here and had plenty of different goalies to work with!

Where else do you go for your Flyers news? Not a lot of options out there. I go to a rumor site.

Couldn't agree more. Mason is anything BUT proven... People also forget that Mason played on a decent, and playoff bound, Columbus team that year.

Keep Bryz, let Mason play some games, and re-tool the team D as a whole. I tell you, Bryz can be the goalie we need if we just have a bit of faith.

- Flyers_V88

I don't think so..cut bait and run.

The guy is a mental midget, an embarrassment to the organization, and extremely overpaid for a guy who ducks from shots on net....

I don't want Luongo either.

It would just be so counter-productive. We need stability in net, and having a tandom of Mason and Bryz I think would give us that. Only having Mason could end up horrendous.

I think the Flyers owe Bryz another season to prove himself even more, and to allow the team to tighten the team D up.

- Flyers_V88

The Flyers owe him nothing.

He has stolen from the team for 2 years now.

The sooner he is gone the better.
