This could easily backfire in a big, big way on Nonis.

That market will roast him alive if Luongo's traded elsewhere and the Leafs fall back to chasing for a playoff spot next year with merely average goaltending. He could have had an elite goalie with a low cap hit for Scrivens and a couple of seconds.

Honeymoon over Dave.

I still think they could end up paying more for him later this year, or face the prospect of him keeping them out of the playoffs for a few more seasons playing elsewhere in the east.

Leaf fans laugh now but a few losses in a row and the heat will get turned up in a hurry in that city.

Yeah, he was obviously emotional and the team should have let him speak about it later. He could have instead tried to do a decent sell job and said that he intends to play for as long as he can at a high level, saying "my contract sucks" might be true, but won't help his or the team's cause.

I'm not sure. The fans outside BC always knew he was a great goalie but he wasn't particularly liked. Truth be it, most fans in Canada cheer against the Canucks, even if theyre the last Canadian team standing, which is quite unusual. But in the last year, Luongo's popularity outside of BC has soared (due to his candor, honesty and twitter account),and fans, like me, are really rooting for him. Not sure how this helps his trade interest, but it doesn't really hurt. Who it does hurt, is the Canucks as the situation gets more desperate, the low ball offers will pour in.

Huge game tonight. Oilers can pull within 3 of 3rd in the division, hold tie-breakers.

They don't need Luongo anymore than Vancouver does. Statistically,Reimer is pretty much the same as CS, only with 5 or 6 less playoff games.

Reimer is one playoff series with Gionta's ass away from retirement. If he gets hurt again, his mom won't let him play.

I honestly wonder if the Leafs will continue to over achieve with shooting %'s and their goalies career high save %'s. They're a lock to make the playoffs, but I'm interested to see how they finish the season and how they perform in the playoffs.

Minny is also the favourite to win the NW according to this site, but I wouldn't pay too much attention to the %'s when they're close.

Meh. Most people in Canada outside their respective cities were cheering against CGY, EDM, and OTT when they all made it to the finals, as well.

Not to the degree of the Canucks-Boston SCF though, seemed like it was the Canucks vs the world. But IMO it seemed like it was more of the people who spend a lot of time on sites like HB that were cheering for the Bruins more than casual fans(just based on the people I know so I could be way off).

How can anyone person say things like "most people" or "most of Canada"? Unless there is some sort of poll or referendum that actually polls "most of Canada", it is complete nonsense period.

Too bad we still can't make trades. Sedins, Edler and Kesler need to go!
