He's young. Maybe another summer training with the twins could help him on and off the ice. - FearTheeGinger
Yeah, I don't see it as a major issue when he's still a young guy. Apparently Roy is a party animal too, I don't blame these guys because partying is (frank)ing awesome especially when you're loaded! Higgins having a party reputation to me is funny, he just doesn't seem like that kinda guy.
I'm gonna celebrate this win by drinking some Crown ROYal this weekend. |

Pronger went 2nd, right? To Daigle. There are great D-men out there. It just a matter of figuring out which ones will be good.
Toews went 3rd to to Johnson. - micah555
Agreed, but I just don't think that can be done with any certainty. Some goes with forwards of course but I think the risk is less. |

Higgins just seems so quiet ..I couldn't imagine having that kinda cash in a city like Van..If this team plays like we did tonight and we go deep they can party all they want. Hell go out and beat up some cab drivers while you're at it. Just bring us a cup!
I finally tried some of that maple crown ROYal. Definitely gonna be downing some for Saturday nights game! |

I watched Edmonton own an entire decade and 2006 was probably my fondest Oilers memories. You love it a lot more when its gone for a while.

That goes for almost everything but I will say, as a fan, what's been going on in EDM during this rebuild is just a bit too long with all due respect. Sport is entertainment and I have difficulty being entertained by 6 years of sub-par performances. Put me in for the "compete every year" philosophy of hockey management. |

Typically the curve for NHL level dmen is longer. The risk in drafting dmen high is youre not sure whether that guy peaked in juniors or if he has a whole other level he can reach in the highest league. Seems like the best guys typically dont reach that level until a few years in the show. OEL and Hedman come to mind. Those two are going to be forces for years. Pietrangelo too but Id take OEL or Hedman any day of the week. |

OEL is an absolute stud. How's Klefbom coming along? I heard that the Oil turned down a trade this year that would have been Klef for "a power forward making at least 4m" |

Potential Norris trophy winning Dmen are hard to find, it depends on upside I guess. There are franchise altering guys like Pronger, Niedermayer. The risk might be higher but if there is no clear forward ? |

3 years of attempting to stay relevant and failing. 3 years of openly tear it down and reboot. Considering what they started with (no real assets, no prospects and being a slightly less desireable place to go than South Central LA) im not shocked at all. |

A lot of back n forth between these teams this year... Oilers win 3-2 in SO.. and then Van wins 3-2 in SO.. Oilers win 4-0... Van wins 4-0.
Keeps going...
When this team is finally healthy.. and the goalie(s) play the way they can.. this team is a contender.
I absolutely loved Roy out there... I really hope Booth can come back in time for the playoffs. |

Klef was hurt this year but was apparently playing pretty good before that. Hes been to Edmonton and said he'll be at camp next year. Whatever his potential they better not rush him.A year in the AHL would be warranted imo unless he comes into camp and absolutely kills it. |

It's gone on a little long I suppose.. but even worse is its gone too SLOW!
Oilers are missing 1 legitimate top 2 dman.. and will need 1 of the big 5 to be on a ELC as a contender to even stand a chance. Other wise at least one of the big 5 will need to be dealt. They are all going to be making between 6-7 million in a couple years.. and depending on the cap.. it probably won't be able to happen.
A good comparison is Chicago... having to trade away a lot of key guys to make the cap fit. And you need a nice mix of all-star caliber defenseman and forwards which you don't even come close to. Too offensively heavy... |

Chicago lost important players becauee Tallon screwed up the qualifying offers. He paid the price for his mismanagement.
Missing a top 2 dman. Yup. Other cap eating contracts come off the books before it will become an issue though. Cap will likely resume trending upward after next year.
That being said, they could likely create a trade for a legit top pairing guy by dangling one of them. It really wouldnt surprise me to see it in the next year or two...unless of course the afformentioned Klefbom comes in and kills it. Unlikely though. What they really need is bridge help until they know exactly how guys like Gernat, Marincin and Klefbom will be. |

Yeah, but you can change it to world wide and he said Kassian was like #6 on the list and top 3 in North America at one point. |

Would be great if we could actually have a Canada Stanley Cup matchup, like Vancouver-Toronto which would give CBC the ultimate rating and moneygasms. - DariusKnight
Two Canadian teams in the SCF is no longer possible. NBC would be all over Gary's ass for breach of contract. |

Watched parts of the game, flipped back and forth with the MIN-LA game. Seemed every time I watched Roy on the ice your team was generating some good pressure.
How'd he look tonight from your perspective? |
