We all know that when the playoffs start , trap , clutch and grab will be back in style ( example Coyotes from last year) and refs will let most of it go so fast skilled teams like the Hawks and Oilers may be at a disadvantage. It would be a fun series though to watch them go at it. - HawkfaninBC
It would be an awesome series. Western conference version of pitts philly from last year. |

I think the game in Edmonton on the 24th will be a good prelude to a possible series between the two. I think the Hawks will turn up that night!! |

Perhaps scoring wise but to conjure up that blood lust would be something entirely different. |

When you think about it, if they don't make it, they always were a playoff team. Had they had more than a half week of camp to sort our their rookies and the style the new coach wanted. Had their top line not had to play injured and key injuries at the wrong times. Had their schedule not had a 9 game road trip on a condensed season where they were dismal during it and had arguably our hot goalie at the time get injured. Had we not had terrible reffing in the first week costing us a game to calgary where their player was standing on our goalie. Had one of our players not shot the puck in our own net in the final minutes of the third period to tie the game with a team we are now fighting for a playoff spot with, only to give them 2 points in OT.
Its like puck bounces in a way. All these things happen to every team but had a couple of these not happen, or happen to another, we might be 6th right now. This team has fought against some pretty good odds to get to 8th. They don't have the best D. Their second line is playing half as well as it did just a month before this. Their fourth line is a joke except for Yak. Our goaltending can let in two quick goals easy shots from stajan or he can make a dozen amazing saves the rest of the game as if he was an all star.
The only thing I know for sure. Justin is going to be an amazing dman and our top line is silly talented. I am sorry I am going to compare them to the sedins in the way they are starting to read where each other is. They aren't quite there yet but they are on the way to that type of cohesion and when they get there, I don't know if there will be a more exciting display of hockey to be seen.
The good and the bad. Most of the games this month are against teams we are competing for in the standings. So each win counts double. Also a lot of the final games have them playing each other, so we need to hope that Chicago and Van go on winning streaks allowing us at least 1 point in our games against them. If they can put distance between them and the rest, that will put a nail in a couple of teams. Tonight though, would be a huge win for us, however we did REALLY humiliate them last time and they did improve at the deadline. Not by much and it will be funny if Gagner beats up Roy but they got a smidge better. |

Oh I forgot, we got that defensive center guy that has a career total of -1000 and is 50% on the faceoffs. So we are also better. Hope he is in tonight. Anyone know if he is taking Nuge's spot or Gangers? |

My favorite IF: If Horcoff doesn't miss 17 games we have....let's 3/4 more points and much better situated down the stretch.

Thoughts on your goaltending going into the playoffs? - Salvo
Mixed feelings on the goaltending. Right now we are on pace to win the Vezina this season but Crow is still prone to let in the odd soft one like last years series versus Phoenix. I think how good our overall team is kind of masks the questions in regard to our goaltending. If the team plays the way we know they can , they don,t have to necessarily have the so called great goaltending. Remember when we won the Cup in 2010 nobody thought Niemi was a true number one. |
