It's because they are the guys that know they have to play well if they want to stay in the NHL. No one else is scared on that team as someone will pick them up. But a Jackman or Begin or McGratton because of their age, skill set and lack of contracts(except Jackman) could find themselves without a place to play next year.

The only other UFA is Babchuk who knows he can play in Russia if need be.

Good to see you back thinking positive! If I wanted a downer, I would check out the Canucks board...some grumpy fans on the left coast,I tell ya!

Even if the Oilers poop the bed, it's pretty hard not to call this season a success.They put themselves in the hunt, and that was the top end of expectations. Playoff's were and maybe still are a longshot, but that would just be a bonus!

Overall, Tambo did ok. Would have been nice to move out some bums like Belanger and Eager, but clearly no teams wants our garbage.Fair enough. Belanger can be bought out.Might as well try to trade or waive Eager. Potter can stick around 1 more year,I guess. On the bright side, we didn't give up any assets for a quick fix either (see Washington) There is still the draft,I suppose, to move a player or 2.

Speaking of the draft, it looks like the Oil might be picking in the 12 to 17 range....does anyone see something good off Mackenzies list around there?
