Matteau and Boucher are like comparing Zubrus and Bergfors.

Matteau is a more complete, big-bodied player who can play in the NHL as a young kid because of his style. Boucher is a skilled player who isn't as big or as pro-ready as a guy like Matteau.

Boucher could make the team, but very few skilled players make an NHL team that young, as they are better off honing their skills to the pro game and then coming up when they are ready to make a big impact, (yes I am aware Bergfors made the team as an 19 year old.

If Boucher continues to put up points at a dizzying pace (not saying he will or won't, never seen him play, just know the scouting report) you could argue that he wouldn't have much to learn in the minors.

I think some of you guys are being way too hard on the Devils organization. This was not a real favorable buyer's market in my opinion. There's a good core and a strong future for this team, along with quite a bit of cap space when the right kinds of players become free agents.

I'm happy we didn't give up a lot of the future for a guy like Pomminville or Clowe. However it's crazy not to trade some of our Dmen away. We have eight of them. EIGHT. And need scoring help. But not one was moved. It doesn't make any sense. Plus Urbom, Gelinas, Marrill, Burlon almost NHL ready.

Like i said before there are alot of teams with alot of cap space for free agents and if we sign clarkson it will be for at least over a million more then he is worth

Agreed. I think if this team turns it around it will be because they start playing better. I don't think a trade would have really done anything.

Larsson has been out against bottom 6 players and has struggled lately. We're trying to make the playoffs, if ur struggling u sit.

I understand that but i would rather miss the play offs this year then miss for two or three years down the road where this team sits right now it will struggle the next few years we can dream about these young guys coming in and everything will be dandy but it just doesnt work like that eapecially when they have no nhl experience all iv been saying the last day and a bit is that he should of made a move for the future since he didnt wanna do anything to sacrafice it so then it should of been lous goal to improve it and get a bit younger

Agree about the 8 D. I think they'll have as much or more value over the summer though. If there was one available piece to be had at a reasonable price where we'd be a definite Cup contender I'd think there was more urgency to make a trade deadline move. But since I don't think the value was there and Cup contender is a question mark I'm more willing to wait.

It's funny. I really don't care for Harrold's game at all. But I do have to admit one fact that can't be refuted. Just about any lineup related move made by PDB last spring worked perfectly. I trust his judgement with regard to the lineup decisions. They're undoubtedly watching film and making decisions based off of very specific things. Things we're not privy to.

We could of moved a guy like clarkson for a good prospect or maybe a first and i dont think it would make us that much worse we knew where we werw at the deadline and our best offensibe guy could be out till the playoffs this was the perfect season and draft to do a quick little retool on the fly and had thise guys listed above played with any sort of consistancy they wouldnt have to worry about its just frustrating its not like im asking for him to tear everthing down and start from svratch but two get a guy who could be ready next uear with a high ceiling for a guy who will either walk for nothing or get a stupid contract from us is what we will get

I could see trading Zidlicky. Good market value was established for veteran d-men the last two years. Regehr brought back second rounders in '14 and '15. A 2013 second round pick (deep draft) and maybe 5th rounder could have been had. Clarkson is more tricky. Yeah his value is at its apex but few of our wings score. Unless you are getting back sure scoring ability I can see where a GM has a hard time pulling the trigger on that.

One thing though. For the Devils financially making the playoffs is probably more significant than for other teams. Maybe Lou is not in a position to sell from that perspective. But yes, I can totally understand dealing Zid.

Larsson wouldn't have made a difference. He doesn't play an offensive role, and probably would've gotten beat just as much as any of our D. I thought we played fine defensively. Just weak and lost on offense. 40 shots.. but not many were high quality.

I would've taken Heatley. Pominville. Iginla. Jagr. goal scorers. I know Sullivan came at a fraction of the price.. I just hope he can make a difference. we're pathetic right now. Clarkson is killing me.. he's pathetic. Zajac is 5.75 MIL! an atrocity of a contract! that's mind boggling! for 8 years!??? madness! madness. Greene is our best player!
