We've always been such a borderline team that I'm sorta glad we finally sucked enough for Darcy to get it in his head that we need to rebuild. - Tsyolin
if only the bills could follow suit. Think about it you have Vanek early then........Turgeon in the top 5 |

I want to see Ott get the C but at the same time I would hate to see Vanek get passed over again, and I think he would definately want out if he doesn't get it this time |

Vanek, Miller want to talk with Regier about future with Sabres; Ott named alternate captain http://bit.ly/Y0mMon
hopefully they can push for an 'accelerated rebuild'....

Joel Armia
He is the future of the sabres. On twitter today NHL Young Guns Daily compared Joel armia to Jeff Carter. Wow i didnt think he was that good! He is projected to be a 1st line C. Check it out (@YoungGunsDaily)
What would it take for the panthers to get him this summer lol? - panthers92
Armia is a pure scoring winger.. where'd you get Center? |

sounds like Miller and Vanek are not happy about Pommer being traded....
what do they expect to happen!?!?
they are playing not even close to expectations....
its not like he is the only one to get moved... |

Part of me thinks Ott sould just have an A. He can still be a big leader but something tells me once if gets the C his game will sort of change. Maybe he will have to clean up his act a bit as far as the antics on ice so that he will get respect from the officials. I really dont want to see his game change at all. Anyone agree? |

I agree. Said the same thing last night. I'm afraid he will try to act more like an NHL captain and less like Steve Ott |

the Finnish flash 2.0 - Sabres2012CUP
We can only hope. He has been compared to him mostly because he is Finnish. But honestly he has the same tools just bigger!!
I expect him to be more ready to play against the big boys than I was with Grigorenko starting here |

Exactly. I think what Buffalo is looking at next year is not a clear cut captain persay but more of a leadership group. |

Seems like a lot of love these days for for Armia. I think I am in the minority, but I dont see mch in him, I see him has a 3rd line winger 2nd if we are lucky. With Zemgus Girgensons I see him as a 3rd line winger at best.
I am more excited about players such as; Brian Flynn (who we are seeing now), Kevin Sundher, Jake McCabe, Dan Catenacci, Nick Crawford, and Justin Kea. |

yea... except we got rid of the one that probably cared the most about this team...
Roy, Connolly, Vanek, Gaustad, Miller, and Pommer...
probably in that order of F#cks given too... |

My 2 cents - Vanek is not Capitan material at all. That is the sad thing about this team - they have few leaders. I am sorry Vanek is sad about Pominville leaving - play better hockey as a team and you are not having this conversation. Maybe Vanek should go to Stafford and Leino and tell them to earn their paychecks.
These guys need to treat this game like a business because it is. It is nice to play with all your friends but when the boss spend a bunch of money to lose - changes are needed. We just happen to get a ton of value for these veterans - including Pominville. Trust me - Pommer is a good player but he is not elite.
You not going to win with him as your capitan - now it is time to refocus. If Miller and Vanek don't want to be part of things - so be it.
I think you let Darcy go and bring in a fresh perspective on this rebuild and hire yourself a top notch coach. I think things are looking brighter but a hockey man needs to be leading this charge. Just let Darcy make trades. |

Idk as a 16-19 year old playing against grown men and more recently starting to really come into his own I like him a lot.
Part of the reason I could see you not seeing much in him is that you dont get anything more than an update here or there since he is in Europe. I will tell you this much. He didnt impress me much at Rookie camp earlier before the lock out, but from what I have read since then he has stepped him game up big time. We shall see when he gets here |

Yea its hard to say. I tend to think 1st line possibly 2nd. I just watch him and he just really looks like an NHL player. His size and moves make him very attactive but consistancy has been an issue. It was a good sign seeing how well he did in the world juniors on smaller ice. I do question the the ceiling for zemgus. I think I project him to the 3rd line but in the best way possible. |

Also Sundher wont be an NHL player. McCabe is 3 years away, Catenacci who I do really like is a few years away, Crawford seems to be an AHL lifer and Kea is a project |
