I have no problem with any of this. We may also need to move Ott. I know many will not like this, but his he really going to want to play here with all our top end talent gone? The UFA list is pretty thin this year, looks like a real youth movement

Edit: maybe we can sign Lupul

- jzabawaj

I think MAYBE if we overpay and give him a starring role, he'll stick around.

Garth once upon a time was possibly the best poster on these boards. True story.
- nfph

I'm going to go out on a limb, here, but I believe that the individual who calls himself "Garth" stopped writing his own blogs about 4 years and 10 months ago. I suspect by then he had generated enough of a following that he was able to develop a formula of key phrases and hot topics that guaranteed hits, and he simply out-sourced the actual writing of the blogs to low-paid, poorly-educated foreign laborers, who were told simply to gin up something that used some of the touchphrases, prompted hits, and generated easy revenue.

Think about it. It would explain the spelling, the grammar, the odd phraseology, the misplaced cultural references, the frequency and bizarre timing of his reposting. It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that Garth even misled his outsourced authors the believe that the words "Kevin Frieheit" are local code meaning "you're fired if you don't post a new title in less than 20 minutes."

You mean the top end talent that has us currently in 13th place in the east? I remember Ott was pretty excited about Grigorenko and skating with him. I'm sure Ott has a lot of questions regarding the organization, but I have no doubt in my mind after speaking with Pegula, Black and Darcy he sticks around.

They probably wouldn't have given him an 'A' if they intended to move him.

other than just having a season?

At this point, who cares if there was hockey this year. Between sucking this much ass and being forced to move the C, I'm anxious to get this season over with.

At Sabres today. Vanek asked if what Darcy said yesterday about rebuilding changes his mind regarding his future as Sabre: "Probably."

Tough day for those guys, but I'm sure once the wound of losing a friend heals a bit, he'll consider his options with a clear head. He had to know this was coming to a certain extent, at least. He's still a Buffalo guy, and a definite pro.

IM a hockey fan 1st and foremost the sabs are my favorite team. I also greatly enjoy watching other teams as well. The rest of the sabres games I wont revolve my schedule around. But like watching Wild Sharks lastnight ill be watching whoever is on this evening. Mostly cause the reds are playing right nwo so I wont have a baseball game to watch.

Now onto the draft:

JoeBuffaloWins on twitter makes a very very good point. How many all stars has Darcy drafted? Granted Darcy hasnt had lottery picks but his count is 4

Soupy, Miller, Vanek, and Pommer

Hmm when its put that way my faith meter drops

I think we all new they weren't naming a captain for the remainder of the year.

IMO might not even select one next year either.

I dont blame them. I think its all a bit overrated anyways. Matters more to the fans and media than to the actual players.

No to the rotating.

Roll with 4 "A's".

IMO right now there isn't a guy worth the "C" on the team.

I think not handing out a 'C' both signifies that Rolston is not necessarily the long term coach, and also, with 11 games left, a little respectful towards Pommer. For someone who's been in the organization for that long, (and again, with such a meaningless 11 games left) there's no harm in holding off.

Yeah, a bit of exaggeration on my part, I ALWAYS want to watch hockey, and will ALWAYS be a Sabres fan, but man this has been a poopty year.

GARTH is a brilliant, insightful writer. his blogs are rich with emotion and volcabulary. he's an inspiration to a generation of aspiring hockey writers.

I wonder if we see a young guy get it like the Blackhawks did with Toews and the Pens with Crosby.

Excluding Myers, much of the picks in the past 5 years aren't really proven yet. Armies, Freakorenko, Girgensons, these guys could turn out to be scary good players. Who knows.

Hodgson would be the prime candidate if that was the case, but he's not ready yet in my opinion.

I hear you its rough, but you have to think positively going forward. The thing im most happy about is we arent throwing bandaides at it like weve done for so long. Bad hockey is always better than no hockey. Hell I watched the Blue Jackets/ Predators from 03-10 and almost never got to see the sabres play

We've always been such a borderline team that I'm sorta glad we finally sucked enough for Darcy to get it in his head that we need to rebuild.

Oh I agree about the last 5 years but look at his drafting in years prior. He has had more success in the later rounds with players I have actually heard of. I mean his first round pick in 2000 Artem Kryukov ever heard of him? My guess is no because he never stepped foot in North America
