HAHAHA, you mean Philly has other teams besides the Flyers? Huh, who knew... Meh - thought they all sucked. Wait I still think they all suck,
Except of course the Flyers and maybe the Wings (if I'm drunk).

- FlyersGrace

I hate Philly fans with a passion. A bunch of fair-weather know-it-alls who jump around from winner to winner. I used to go to Phillies games regularly before they got good again. It was great. Now I struggle to get tickets, and when I go I have to listen to the fans female dog about how terrible they are.

I refuse to go to Eagles games.

Bryz is why this team is only 4 pts from being in the 8th seed.

Hes not the reason why this team is 4 pts out of the 8th seed.

Speaking of goaltenders, anyone catch those Rangers-Pens highlights last night?

Marc-Andre Fleury. Woof.

I'll take hammarby's breakdown of the play, thank you:
- Flyskippy

The problem is that this happens too often with Bryz. I've pointed it out before this game to those I watch the games with. Once, yeah whatever.

And no, I've never had to put my hands up to protect my face in goal. I guess I'm lucky that way.. I let my mask stop the puck. I was hit in the neck once (missed my adams apple), which then pushed me to use a neck protector. I didn't duck then or after. But pro goalies ducking? No. I never see that.

Yes, but short schedule or not, this is not a playoff caliber team defensively. I don't have much faith that a player like Gervais will continue to play over his head and the forwards' newfound commitment to two-way play will last.
- bmeltzer

Agreed but they very well might make the playoffs this year even with that defense. Their schedule is not that tough besides being on the road. A win tonight could propel them back into the race. The Devils remaining schedule is hard and the Flyers can control their own destiny against the Islanders with two games remaining and history of dominating that team. Optimistic outlook yes but they have a punchers chance if they can get past tonight.

Philly fans aren't fair weather fans ... at least, not as much as other cities. The problem with Philly fans is that we're bi-polar.

When our team is winning it's all peaches and cream. No one is as good as us, and we're destined for a championship. But when our team is losing it's all "trade this guy" or "fire the coach" type of talk.

It's always one extreme or the other, and very rarely a more objective take.

Bryz hate is strong today.

I thought we won? I guess we needed to win by MOAR.

Besides, hammarby31 -- who actually is a goaltender -- broke this down in the last blob thread.

- Flyskippy

I play goal as well, and just got to watch this supposed horrible goal this morning.. I don't think it was bad as it seemed that the trajectory that he anticipated off the stick chenged. Happens.. we won.. I'll say it again, people who continually rip the goaltender for not playing in a vacuum and not being superhuman every game need to play goal for a game to see how important team defence and trust is to success at the position.

I agree with this.

I honestly don't think Bryz was ducking. He has the bad habit of going down early, which he did here, and he was actually trying to react to the high shot by getting it with his arms at the last split second. It looked worse than it was.

Is that why you play in the NHL? Cause you didn't duck? Please, tell me more about how much better you play the net than Bryz.

they won...never would know...
ducked - who cares
should've had it - who cares
Bryz has not been the problem this year.

I hope they keep both goalies going into next year.

Go Flyers!!!

I'll tell you what has happened. The team around him has played better, and more responsible defensively. And all of a sudden a player like Gervais looks a lot better. Doesn't mean there still won't be some bad games or some lapses. But Gervais is not the stiff he's been labeled as.
- MJL

The last three games, the Flyers actually had a big presence in the neutral zone.
It did not resemble the typical 6 lane expressway into the Flyers D zone as it has so much this year.

Also on Gervais, another reason I think he is benefitting also is from playing with Kimmo.

Anyone else notice how much the gap between NHL and AHL players has closed in the last ten years?
- mayorofangrytown

Biggest difference is size, after that the gap is a lot narrower.

Freaking guy has played what 20 games in a row now due to this organeyezations ineptness to find a decent backup. I will be pissed if bryz gets bought out this summer

it's always let's find something negative to talk about versus hey they won...
