Wow. You signed up just to share this brilliant observation? - NewToHockey
No, I signed up to remark that your blogger failed to mention Jay Bouwmeester was in the lineup tonight which slightly affects the projected lineup as he plays half the game. Then someone made a deuce joke about Russel. |

No doubt Jay-Bo's contract allowed the Blues to trade for him relatively cheap. A mid-1st and some B level prospects. He is overpriced, that's for sure. But fills the gaping hole on the left side of the 1st pairing, logs 25m a game and has never really played with a good corp of puck movers on the blue line in his career. He doesn't need to be the best defenseman on the team. Tonight will be a tough test in a tough barn. Should be a playoff style hockey. - Taynos
This doesn't touch on the point I brought up. I posted about Boumeester's cap hit impacting the RFA's the Blues will have to re-sign this summer. |

Hey, you gave me the name "Crankypants," so in turn I can be as "picky" as I want to be about things you post.

I would be naive to think that the PRESENT Patrick Kane could not get himself a balnk check back home to Buffalo...
....and ditto to Tazer and Winnipeg.
This was part of his argument...but I have to think based on Ryan Getszlaf's deal these guys can and will ask 12 mil in three years.... - wiz1901
I don't know. You could be right, but there's also a comparable from Sidney Crosby to Getzlaf. Do you really think Getz is worth 500k less than Crosby? Not a chance.
I think teams like Anaheim have to over pay to keep guys like Getz/Perry, whereas Pittsburgh can get a little bit of a hometown discount for guys like Malkin and Crosby, because they want to play in Pittsburgh.
We also don't know what the cap looks like in 3 years. That said, I can easily see Toews and Kane both clipping at 9M. I also think there's a cap on salaries too. I don't think salaries can exceed a certain number...I wanna say 9.5M or something. |

I'd love to try:
Saad Toews Hossa
Frolik Shaw Kane
Stalberg Bolland Bickell
Kruger Handzues Bollig
I want to see Shaw get a shot at 2C since Bolland hasn't impressed and Frolik (former 20 G man) can keep up with Kaner.
Maybe even flip Bolland to 4C, Kruger to 3C and Handzues to 4W ???
Just my thoughts ... - dciz99
I really like the line of Shaw Kane and Frolik. Frolik has really turned it on and he is not afraid to go get the puck. Add to that Shaw is fearless and has great on ice vision. Could be a damn good line. Kane is just a phenom! |

Seriously, why is a guy from Mizzourah talking trash? Must have run out of mayonaisse sammiches and needs something to do... - eburgio
I split time between Los Angeles and Chicago actually. Chicago is a fine town. I did not know St. Louis had an infatuation with mayonnaise, we do however enjoy typing out processed condiments with proper spelling. |

Check Ovie's salary and have a good laugh at how overpaid that guy is. What Malkin gets will probably be a good indicator of what Toews will ask for. Although I'm hoping they take a little hometown discount |

Well the Blues have a metric butt ton of cap space. The question is if they will spend to the limit? |

Ovechkin's cap hit is right around this mark. I think that's the highest cap number in the league.
Is there a cap on how high a cap number can be? Does anyone out there have an answer? |

Oh, I don't argue on being overpaid. Overpaid has nothing to do with max cap hit. I thought when Ovie's deal was signed they had to work the numbers to stay below a certain cap figure...something like 9.7M or something.
Malkin and Crosby should be comparable, though I don't think Crosby cares if Malkin makes more. |

On paper that line could play well, but in reality who knows how they would do together. Shaw and Kane played well together (with Sharp) while Shaw filled in for Bolland.
I have been impressed with with Frolik too. The emergence of Saad, Shaw, Kruger over the past couple years in addition to Frolik's improvement have given Stan some options when it comes to re-signing Stalberg. I'd like to see Stals back next year, but if not there are some viable options to replace him. |

I didn't know this, but you're probably right. The Pens have reportedly told Crosby Geno will make more in AAV because they can't do the lifetime Keith, Hossa, Kovalchuk contracts anymore |

Do you mean what Geno Malkin gets IN HIS NEW DEAL in 2014-15?
After the Penquins decides who goes, Letang or Geno?
You think Malkin is gonna stay at the 8.7 million salary, only 500,000 less than Getzlaf's annual salary?????

Hopefully by the time that Kaner and Toews become UFA's, they will have seen what two guys taking up too much of the cap space can do to a team (Anaheim).
Let's not forget those guys got a HUGE bump in their second contracts too. The Malkin comparison will probably be accurate |

I am just sooooo tired of watching #36 on that #2 line and think Shaw and Fro could really gel with Kaner til Sharp returns |
