Fair enough... I think its unfair to speculate Gillis screwed up he has had little choice up to right now but to hold onto him... If we really wanted him at all I imagine we would have done the deal today.... I really think the Leafs were holding out for Vancouver to retain some of the contract......
Draft time will be intersting but Hackett to Buffalo (Makes Miller trade a reality); Smith could be on the market, and tampa Picked up their goalie today.... will NYI really hold both Dipietro and Luongo at the same time? The options might be buy out or retain salary
On the other hand maybe they get lucky - jribout
Tampa got their goalie today, again. They may be shopping yet again.
Tell me Florida didn't waste a season by not picking up Lu. Of course, if you are in a market with no fans and no pressure to win, I guess wasting a lock-out shortened season isn't the worst. |

For 17 games. I haven't heard one hocky analyst say this is exactly what we need to get over the hump. No use female doging about it I think we will see in 12 regualr games and 5 playoff games Roy say goodbye. - VANTEL
Roy and Kesler bro. If Kesler is back to form it's a whole new ball game. |

I see it as an issue for Lu, but not for the Canucks. It's not currently stopping them from competing. Who knows what the future holds, but they'll deal with it in due time. If they have to waive him in the fall because there's no takers, then they waive him. What's the big deal? - LeftCoaster
Can they waive him? Does he have a NTC or NMC? |

Yup, might not be as forgone a conclusion as one would think. |

Stop being so (frank)ing negative. He's the third best scorer on your team. - Canada Cup
Vintage could be our third best scorer |

It was a bad contract when it was signed. Great player, but bad contract. There were a ton of people calling it a mistake at the time for the same reason that's turned it into a problem. - Jeffmt
So Zetterberg has a bad contract? Duncan Keith has a bad contract? Etc etc? They were good contract under the old rules. |

What would make the trade significant in ur eyes?
Second round exit?
Third?
Cup?

Correct. I see that likely being applied to Ballard certainly, and maybe booth. Could buy out them both, free up $3m more cap than luo, and still spend less money overall. - lumlums
They have to use both buyouts in the offseason. Probably for two of Ballard, Hamhuis, or Booth. |

Then it may come to a buy out. We have two free get out of jail cards to play. Again, who knows? - LeftCoaster
Not that it matters to us but if you were a billionaire and your GM came to you asnd said I need 24 mil to get rid of this guy ,what would you think of your GM ? |

Flyers reportedly tried to trade for Bishop too, they're in the market as well. |

I'm not defending Gillis, it's his mess to clean up, and for the record I'd fire him. But sometimes in business you've gotta write things off. It happens. |

Lu blows, the only thing that's worse than his abililty is his contract which "sucks" and he has negative value. Roy also was a horrible, horrible pickup and arguably the stupidest trade of the week, if not century. I was really hoping that Henrik, Daniel, Kesler, Roy, Booth, Raymond, Higgins, Edler and Ballard would all get traded today for the best offers Gillis could get. Was also hoping that AV and the entire coaching staff would be relieved of their duties, Hodgson would be re-acquired, and Gillis would load up on some decent talent for once that can help this team 3 years down the road.
Extremely disappointed and shocked. |

Sell edler, booth, and Ballard. That's 13 million in salary right there. |
