Yes so many teams will be rushing to the mix, to aquire a contract that goes from 9 years to 8 years and 8 months. I think we seen the markets want for him already this year. I can't see it changing when more top goalies become available this summer.

Gillis's options are trade Schneider or put Lu on waivers.

Expect to see Lu as the #1 next year

i can see schneider bringing a very handsome return

Whether we like to admit it or not, the Canucks are a very good team still, despite no longer ranking among the cream of the crop. The question is, will they decline even more next year as they age and lose a lot of cap space? Some concerns for sure, but they're still a good team right now and can do some playoff damage. Lots of experience on that team.
- systemtool

absolutely. theyve been elite for some time now. they know how to win. that's invaluable

a healthy kesler in form and they dont even need to move one of the goalies and theyre a contender imo.
but his return to dominance remains to be seen with ryan, and regardless that still wouldnt change a rational person wanting to use a few miliion of those dollars more wisely than someone sitting on the bench.

Sup Vantel.

Do you think Loungo even wants to stay at this point, even if they got rid of Schneider? I just feel like he wants out now. You're right though about the summer. Lots of buyouts coming, lots of UFA's, other teams will be looking to trade goalies too...I cant see it being any easier, with the salary cap going down for the first time since 2005 after years of increases.

I think someone said yeasterday he said he doesn't want to be here ,and that being the number 1 was not an option.

I think he should pull a Bryz , and when they say Lu it's your turn, sit there and say no thanks go with Cory tonight.

Gillis has made a mess of this club . So it time to site back and laugh.

Problem with that is then the #1 wants to be somewhere else. That can't be good .

I think Gillis did not realize that the REAL objective was to get rid of the contract and the distraction, at pretty much any price.

It is not a commentary on Luongo as a person or as a goalie. Gillis had the chance (we all believe) to actually unload that contract. EVen if he got nothing more than a 5th, a LOT of people would have considered that a big win for him, including a lot of Vancouver fans.

He made a mistake, either out of pride or foolishness.I would not rule out him getting another chance this summer. He really does need to stop trying to sell people on the idea that there is a line-up of teams waiting to trade for Luongo.

- Aetherial

i recall gillis' constant insistence on luongos value and that they would not take anything less than what they thought was fair etc.

no chance they woulda even considered ben scrivens and 2 seconds last summer. for sure that was pride getting in the way.

now they cant even get that..

I think Canucks went from a top 3 team to a top 11-15 team in a year and a half . It does not take long to drop and Gillis has done very very little to stop the bleeding.

doesnt seem ideal.

u think his relationship with the fans is just too damaged to 180 that stance and be happy here again?

I get where people think a healthy Kesler is the answer. We forget that dating back for two years or more we had trouble finding people to play on his line . He had a selfish me first attitude and was a shoot first guy from low percentage shots. This is who we hoping our saviour is.

The refs are also keying on what the NHL calls Kesler type dives. That can't be good

Not sure he is mad at the fans more than he is mad at the coach and GM

I think it is a guarantee unless guys like Jensen and Kassian can really light it up next year.

Every year in the past few, the Sedins could be counted on over a PPG average. They're not playing up to their potential this year. Perhaps things get turned around before the end of the season but if they continue to trend downward, next year could look pretty bad.

except luongo said trading schneider doesn't change things. he still wants out. this is nearly the equivalent of holding out.

First period 2nd line
Second period 3rd line
First 10 min of third period 4 th line
Last 10 min of third end of the bench

This way I have a 85 % chance of being right

I really think you guys are going to like Roy. Hes actually a pretty good player, and should do well with a team that can compete.

gillis woke up this morning knowing to trade luongo he's going to have to provide incentive for someone to take lou's contract.

he's in the worst position possible. roberto may be all charming on twitter these days, but he's got gillis by the nads (so do the other gm's)

im recalling at the beginning of the summer getting attacked and eventually banned by micah for the ensuing back and forth after rationally mentioning how little lu i thought would get back.

.

- hugefemale dog77

I got called a moron for suggesting Gillis might have to buy him out or waive him in the summer.

I still don't believe it comes down to that, but it might.

I really do think they should consider trading Schneider, IF Luongo has any interest in being the number 1 again.

all true, still a very capable group - however - Mr Gillis' CAP management or lack thereof means that Vancouver will have to rid itself of at least two of its larger contracts before being able to begin to fill the roster for next year...

i would expect you see the GM (where it is Gillis or not remains to be seen) use both compliance buyouts and trade either Luongo (if possible) or Schneider.
His only way out of this is a larger deal, packaging several players and taking back salary, albeit lesser salary perhaps in duration. But he's obviously been in denial of the situation that he has put himself in up until now...

If he plays motivated, his speed alone will be a plus. I think it was a great pickup, but I do believe he is a rental. I don't think you guys will be able to fit him under the cap AND I don't think you will want to take on the ridiculous contract he will demand this summer... *some* team probably will.
