Let me guess... We're getting a $100,000 half pipe in the rink. Maybe they will finally paint the plywood walls or hire a local special needs person to be our Joey Moss.

Take it for what its worth; I have a friend who's cousin works for the Sens...

Ottawa wanted to send Zibanajed and Bishop for Eberle...I dont blame Edm for declining...

Again, not sure if thats 100% but to me it wouldnt be worth it for Oil. Two quality players who both could be the real deal for a guy who is pretty solid...

Eberle IMO is the Oilers future captain. He is the true untouchable and I wouldn't do a deal like that ever. Bishop and dubie would be 1A 1B. Unless we are addressing multiple important needs there's no chance a core player is going.

Is the fact that Martin Erat demanded a trade completely lost on everyone? Nasvhille sold him (along with a decent prospect) for a good prospect. Washington overpaid because they McPhee still thinks he's in the playoff race, but the fact of the matter is that Forsberg wasn't being shopped.

Maybe Tambs didn't do his due diligence checking to see whether Washington happened to be willing to trade a guy 10 months after drafting him 11th, but the fact of the matter is that Erat was the guy who percipitated the trade, not Forsberg. Makes a big difference when you think about it.

Wow! One of the first if not the only blog I've read of yours Richie where you sound like your completely coherent and lucid. Nicely done.
- MnGump

Nope. Not really coherent or lucid. This is just the first blog you've read where he's not being insufferably pro-oilers. If you stick around the blogs long enough, you'll realize that this is merely the irrational flip side: Everything every other team did the oilers could have done better, woe is me it's so hard to cheer for the oilers. It's still self-congratulatory bullpoop, just playing it from the other side.

Clearly you aren't aware how trades go down. Do you really think each team sends out a memo saying "player X is available! Send me your offers!" to every team in the league? No that's not how most deals happen. GM's talk about a possible trade, say "hey what about this guy?" Then the other GM says, "No I'm not moving him, but maybe this pther guy can be included if you throw in a pick", or something along those lines. So it's not like the Oilers brass even knew Forsberg could be had, let alone try to put together an offer for him. Drives me nuts when I read things like this where people say "Well we could have given you more!" after a deal is already done with another team. Every trade by every team isn't layed out in point form so the 28 other GM's in the league can look them over to see if they can offer something better before it goes down.
- kingsfirstcup

Exacltly.

Erat demands a trade
Washington says they're not interested in giving up players
Nasvhille wants a top prospect
Washington says they'll have to add.

The inquiry started about Erat, and ended with Forsberg and Latta. Short of wire-tapping, it's not something any other team was privy to, which is why it came in so late and under the radar.
