Its not a good idea to assume you have won a game before its even played you will look quite foolish if the flames win tonight - blizzzard
Yeah, I actually fully expect an oiler loss tonight as a result of this blog. At least I don't have to blame it on the bet I made with a calgary fan. |

Hemsky isn't a UFA at years end either. Not sure what your point is there. - oilersfanatic
His point is Hemsky is NOT better than Erat - end of story!!
And maybe, just maybe other GM's don't want to deal with the Oilers since they have this so-called untouchable list of 6 players.
Again, have all the skill you want in your top 6, you won't win nothing without skilled, bigger wingers & to bring those in, you need to move a member of the untouchable group, which apparently the Oilers won't do.
Well too bad then!! |

Yeah the playoffs are reserved for checkers only. No talent allowed. - Jack-artist
well in reference to Richie's blog my point to be more direct is.....if Caps and trying to secure a playoff spot and ultimately get there......who do u want.....Hemsky or Erat? |

Every team has so-called "untouchables" But I guarantee the right price and anyone could be sold. Tell me, would you trade Eberle, Hall or Schultz away straight across for a player. IMO it gives off the wrong vibe when you wait and draft a player, let him develop then then trade him before he hits his prime. |

Nashville Season Ticket Holder here. While on the surface I agree that Washington looks to have been fleeced on this trade, I am tempering my thoughts. Here is why:
1) Forsberg is still a prospect. If he lives up to his potential, then it is a slam dunk for Nashville. But the NHL draft graveyard if filled with 1st round picks that never materialize.
2) Nobody is talking about it, but Washington getting Michael Latta as the 'other' player can not be overlooked. Latta is a born leader and has future CAPTAIN written all over. Fans will love him. He can score, fight, pass, and is 100000% a team player.
In all honesty, Erat to me is the 'other' player. The question is what impact Latta and Forsberg have on their respective teams 5 years from now. If Forsberg ends up only being good, instead of great, and Latta lives up to his potential, this could be a push for both teams down the road. |

Clouts. I. Dis-a-gree. 100%.
Tambo did the right thing by adding a depth center, and he gave up NOTHING. What.. a 4th round? Players such as Erat, Forsberg, etc..etc..etc, they require something in return, such as Hemmer, Whitney, Jones. I get you want immediate change, but tearing apart the core of this team right now is not going to make much of a positive difference right now. This team is on the upswing, and playoffs are possible. Don't mess with the chemistry that is developing.
They could have gone after Ben Bishop as a backup for Dubey, and I'm sure they did. I just wish they would have made a shot for Steve Mason. Dubey and Mason sharing the starting role for the rest of the year? Look out. |

Yes I would if that means bringing in a big, skilled winger like Chris Stewart or Wayne Simmonds or Milan Lucic.
These type of players can fight, score & skate & have a tremendous amount of respect from other players around the league. Give me Simmonds anyday over Yakupov or RNH!! |

They haven't won nothing yet. Wait til playoffs, that's when we'll see how their smaller guys perform when the checking gets tighter and the physical play picks up. |

Changed the first one so only one assist...and a lousy two goals. Brassard with a goal too.
