Lost, yes.
Robbed, no.
Conacher is a great player, but his numbers have dipped ALOT in recent games and has kinda disappeared in others. Time will tell.

Really and truly you can't say we won or lost at this point. We don't know what's going to happen. Give it time, and then we can decide. Who would have thought that the CBJ won the Nash deal back when it happened? Well...I did, but that's not the point.

What's amazing is Ottawa always had goaltending problems and now a rookie and two backups are great goaltenders.

System anyone???

TB got robbed on that one. Damn.

Lol, go post on a MTL blog -_- Tampa has been with montreal every game this year with what you call "dissapointment for tampa fans" at one end and supposively your super hero carey price at the other..

This is a great defense of Steve Yzerman's thinking.

Ignore him, he goes goes from thread to thread, trolling. Probably just bitter that Boston and ottawagot better, while his small and soft team did nothing to improve.

Ultimately, this is a deal that helps both clubs get better. How can anyone complain?

I occasionally have decent opinions between my complete nonsense and just being an A$$.

yeah, the trade makes good sense, stevie y doesnt deserve all the buzz thats being brought with it, good trade but as you mentioned its just the emotionality (word?) of it that makes it such a big deal, but we will get over that. as long as the future stays bright everythings all good...and tampa bay looks killer now ..can't wait

Absolutely! With so many good winger prospects coming up, this was a move the Bolts could afford to make. The future is bright and the team looks better now than it did yesterday.

Agree with the trade thoughts, but not his assessment of Lindback.

like i said ealier, bolts are not hurting at forward; what we are hurting at is a goalie that can stop a beach ball.

Sad to see cc go but wanting to see what bb brings, if he can keep his numbers the same then i will be happy!!!

What is with this you lost sens win when both players havent suited up yet? i think both teams win and only time will tell.

GO BOLTS!!!!

I doubt he'll keep his numbers up where they are; like Conacher's, Bishop's are inflated due to circumstance. That being said, I agree with you that both teams might end up winning this trade. Like I said, both teams addressed a need and dealt from a position of strength. It's way to early to judge further than that.

I don't blame Yzerman for trying to find a young and inexpensive goalie that can be the #1 guy(I'm actually a believer in not spending big bucks on goaltending), but if Bishop ends up being inconsistent and struggles a lot at times like Lindback then this approach could end up being what eventually leads to Yzerman's downfall.

I don't understand all the people who have just written off Lindback. He's played 21 games as a starting goaltender in the NHL; let's give him time. I completely agree with Steve Yzerman - Lindback will be a good goalie in this league. Guy Boucher's defensive system didn't help the goaltending situation at all. With Cooper in the fold, things should be a lot better.

Add to that the performance Lindback put up in the five games before his injury (lowest save percentage in any one of those games was 0.926%) and I see a lot of potential there.

This trade was a 45% to 55% in favor of Ottawa, but it addressed the Garon issue. I expected stupid comments, but there from a odd source.

I'm not making and judgement until these guys have actually suited up for their new teams. Way too early to be declaring a winner.

Thanks for your input! Hope you're right about the greatness bit.
I think we'll probably see:

Killorn-Stamkos-St. Louis
Purcell-Lecavalier-Connolly

...as the top-six to finish the season. Connolly might slot up and down between the second and third line with Pouliot being the change piece.

- Michael_Stuart

What about pouliot? I'm a big time pouliot believer

Read the end of the comment. I expect to see him and Connolly alternate.

Exactly, and perhaps even beyond that. This is a long-term deal, not the usual rental thing we see this time of year.

For anyone wanting my take on the Conacher/Bishop trade, tune in tonight at 11pm Eastern. Glen Miller, HockeyBuzz's Columbus writer, and Mike Luciano host the show and I'll be tagging along to give my thoughts.

What Tampa Bay fans can look forward to seeing is a really superb puck-moving Goaltender. Out of all 3 goalies in Ottawa, Bishop was hands down the best at coming out of the net and moving the puck to his dman or even up to the forwards.

Also, look forward to Shootout Supremacy. Ottawa would be battling it out for 8th right now, if not for his perfect 4-0 shootout record (3 goals allowed on 19 shooters)

Tough to see Bishop go. He is a quality tender and even more of a quality person. But this was an easy decision for Murray [to trade Bishop]. Congrats to the lighting fans, hope you guys enjoy him

My questions now go to Tampa Fans. What are you complete thoughts on Conachar? I really want to hear a honest exhaustive answers. What did you think of him this year? What did you like? What did you not like? What are his best assets? If asked 48 hours ago, would you have been in favour of trading him for Bishop? What would you have given him if RFA this year?

He's one of the hardest working young players I've seen in a long time. He's a skilled guy with a lot to offer. His size makes it difficult to get position on players, but he doesn't tend to give up on plays. His stats were certainly inflated by playing with St. Louis for a good chunk of the year, but there's no denying his talent. After a real hot start to the season, he became largely invisible. As Jon Cooper said, Conacher is still a work in progress at the NHL level. 48 hours ago, I would not have been in favor of it. The more time I have to adjust, the happier I am about the deal.
