I was so excited

They are right but I did like what I saw from Leino in the small amount of games he played this year. Can we actually buy out him and get rid of another roster player? Plus chances are stafford gets traded as well. We would have to do a lot of signing/trading for roster guys.

Armia and Grigorenko should make the team next year, and possibly Larsson too
A top5 pick is now looking more likely,
So we could get an NHL ready guy there too
And if we move Miller &/or Vanek, we'd prob get a couple roster players back in those deals as well

Have to admit .. i was pumped waiting on the caps trade details , Then I got " we can be friends" feeling in my gut when they reported Darcy was done.

Does anyone else think it's kind of crazy that Washington gave up Filip Forsberg for Erat? I don't know much about Latta, so he must not be too big of a name.

who is available via free agency that's worth paying the money?

minnesota drafted well, had a decent core and signed parise and sutter, they improved greatly through free agency, who could we do that with? nobody! because no one else is available for a few years and most teams are re-signing their guys!

minnesota doesn't look nearly as smart if they don't hit the lottery and sign parise and sutter! without those two, they don't make the pominville move!

i think the sabres are realizing how hard it is to build a winner without drafting cornerstones and are somewhat panicking now.

Agreed. Clearing up cap space is all well and good, but if you don't have a plan to use your newly found slush fund, it does little good.
