I know those times very well, lol
my brother and I used to listen to the games on the radio too while playing floor hockey in the basement.
And everytime they used to score, we'd meet in the middle and start hugging, talk about pansy ass - jimbro83

One thing that left me scratching my head last night... When the fourth line had that great shift where they kept the puck in the pens zone for a full shift.. I kept saying "where has this been all year?"
The forecheck was awesomenlast night, finally.
I hope this team takes on more of a lunch pale style. God knows they arent gonna be potting six goals a game, but if they play like they did last night i LOVE our chances.
Also, it was good that hank finally had a game where he didnt get strafed. - TrueBlue9182
Think Gaborik had it right in his interview. The team was not having fun and maybe Gaborik, the former star of the Rangers, strugglign was a big distraction for them as a club. This trade may be better because of how it affected the guys already here more so than the quality of the talent we got back.
This can be our Jack Johson for Carter trade boys. |

yeah, Voracek was a high pick, underachieving in Columbus, change of scenery and now blossoming.
Brassard definitely can follow same path. very good analogy. |

I just hope Torts doesn't break his balls and try to turn him into Guy Carbonneau. |

For one game, Clowe proved me wrong. I didn't think he had anything left. For one game I have to eat a slice humble pie. Brassard, Moore and Dorsett are a different story. Dorsett will be loved here. He's tough SOB that is willingto do anything for the greater good of the team. Moore looks like Bobby Orr compared to that turd Hamrlik. Brassard gives the Rangers good depth at center. |

Now this means very little right now, but it might mean much more when free agency rolls around. Despite bring what seems to be the right attitude to the rink, the Ranger cannot sign him to the type of deal he wanted from vacouver, just can't.

That's fine. He looked great lst night. But it's just a little unsettling consider his age, his playing style and the fact that he's in a whole new enviroment. |

If you want to compare it to Carter from Philly though, I'd rather of had Moore and a top 10 pick than Brassard and Dorsett. But I'm sure we wil lend up really likign these guys.
Only thing I take back from yesterday is I thought AA >> Brassard and was curious why we couldnt jsut push for him back. But Brassard looks just as good of a hockey player and may have a higher ceiling. |

The AAV is not a problem but that term? I don't want as power forward on my payroll when he's 38 years old. |

And there is insentive to not sign him (keeping our #2 next year). So although he may be a good fit I'd just walk away unless I get him to 3 years. But Philly offered 8 years 30M? So he knows thats an offer so he will walk for any less than that. Just say no Sather. I will enjoy the Clowe ride till June thank you very much. |

there was a lot of moaning from very respectable, knowledgable Ranger fans, like our own Pete, in regards to the deal, about us not getting a first rounder back in the trade. And I can respect that.
But, I submit to you Pete, if you are reading, that after seeing John Moore's skating ability, that he, John Moore, is more valuable to this team than any mid to late first rounder that would pan out 3-4 years from now. I definitely saw glimpses of why he was taken in the first round 4 years ago, and I am excited about his potential.
I am also excited not to have to see Hamrlik's quicksand skating anymore. - jimbro83
Sather wasn't gentle on the new Jackets GM.
This trade, along with Clowe for picks, is going to payoff for years down the line. |

Brassard only the 3rd player ever to have 4 points in their Rangers debut. |

Back in my youth I would give you a run for your money but I'm too old now and my memory is shot. Anyway, I'm sad Gabby is gone but he is. Next, great win by the boys. I did notice a different flow to the game like a more puck possession style so all things considered if the team is better I am all for it. Torts is safe for now.
listen, I am going to be slightly egotistical right now and say there isn't anybody on the planet who knows more about the Rangers and their history as I do. There are people who know as much as me, but nobody knows more.
Now that I said that, when someone comes onto this blog and completely acts like a complete dooooosh with every post he makes and makes a completely idiotic statement like that, I am gonna have fun with it for awhile. - jimbro83

We will see in the future. And the one thing is if Gaborik scores 50 or Gaborik tanks in CBJ we cant use that to judge the trade. What become of Brassard Dorsett and Moore will and only that. |

Although it is assinine I wil lsay its quite ironic that even the players and Torts himself said they played well cause they didnt worry about coaching and just played the game withotu really caring about a system. Tort's comments even suggested he wants to not try and overcoach this group from here on out. Gaborik said the whole team wasnt having fun anymore. It sounds insane for pro athletes but its still a game. The key to the season may just be for this team to start having fun some fun. |

Sans Nash none of Columbus' high picks really panned out there. Brassard is very talented and Moore has a lot of upside. Still a lot to be determined here but Sather deserves credit for improving this team without gutting the system. |

Philly can't make that deal. They have less cap room than we do. during free agency, Pronger's contract counts. |

I'm going to play devil's advocate here for a minute. Obviously, the team had a great game last night. Almost everything went perfectly for us. Clowe and Brassard had great games and Moore was no slouch either. I know that won't be the case for every game, I'm not an idiot. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy who likes Torts for the most part. I think it will be interesting to see over the next couple of games how the new guys will adjust to our system and what effect it will have on them and the team as a whole. Maybe Torts is right and this team just needed a little jam. Maybe the Torts haters will be right and the offense will disappear again. Only time will tell. But, I for one hope that Torts is right. It's time for this team to get on a roll and carry it over into the playoffs. |
