I am in total agreement. Feels like we just conceded the season, I know they weren't winning a cup anyways but I would have like to have tried!

Count me in as someone who thinks that Brassard will thrive under Torts. I am all for this trade so if I am wrong I will admit but give it a chance at least.

I agree he has had a bad season to date. But, Washington started slow too, and now are pressing. Talented players need training camp. It is that simple. That's why I think this is stupid. Brassard has been a dud since his highly touted debut. The other two players are still unproven. And as far as depth goes, I'd take Gabby over all 3 any day. If we were getting back a 1st, I'd re-consider.

Gutted. I like the look of Brassard but I will now have to retire my Gaborik jersey... Time to shop for a Nash 3rd jersey I think?

This move makes it clear to me that John Tortorella is here for the long haul. Might as well not even discuss whether he is the right coach for this team anymore.

Dorsett will be back before the season ends, he's a very close player to Prust

I think the shock factor hasn't worn off yet, we opened cap space, picked up a grit Prust type player, 3rd line Center and another young quick defenseman, if we can get a pick for Boyle even during the offseason it's a good deal

I can't overlook the fact of another big name free agent failing here, we can't keep doing this, it's a never ending saga.

Dan hard to argue that but I think we got as much value as we possibly could for Gabby. Especially with the season he is having.

you just said Cally was the only one having a good year, so I responded, hello? Stepan?
- jimbro83

Under all the circumstances surrounding the team, this is an excellent for the Rangers. Moore is 22 an is every bit the skater McDonagh is. He will be the McD of this deal.

You hit it on the head Pete, Sather just painted this team with a fresh coat of Tortarella.

Brassard has promise and should work well with Rangers forwards. Moore is still young and given the Rangers abilities to develop D-men, he should pan out.

Gabby looked lost for most of this season. The move allows them to re-sign Clowe eventually who is a great fit for the Rangers.

Vin I think that this is the right direction for this team. I look at this team now and I see a better version of it from top to bottom compared to last season with the subtraction of Gabby and addition of Nash. This team just became a tough MOFO team to play against again IMO.

He was Top 5 in the league in goals 2 of his 3 years here. He was hardly a failure.

I am shocked by some of the comments here on this deal. I think it is a very good trade. We get rid of a guy who will never do anything extra to score a goal (like a Nash for example). Let's face it, great talent but unless the puck ends up on his stick while in an opportunistic position, he does not get the job done. Good move for the future of the team, not necessarily with the acquisitions in this particular trade. They added much needed depth on this club. John Moore will be a good bottom end dman for this team. Brassard has upside and is a Rangers type guy and Dorsett is a guy that would fit in anywhere. Good trade!

Edit...How the hell could I forget the Salary dump!!!!!!!!

Per Gross "Also, forgot to mention in my earlier post on Clowe and the morning skate but Marc Staal was at the practice facility this morning, doing off-ice work. He declined to speak to the media. But there was a helmet with a visor at his locker stall"

the fact that the rangers are making these trades in an attempt to replace brandon (frank)ing prust should tell us something about who is pulling the strings in this organization. this pretty much guarantees gaborik will go back to his old ways next season and score 35+

I like this deal for you guys. Chances are you guys werent going to retain Gabby after his contract, got some nice young pieces back for him. Opened up some Cap Space to sign all your pending RFAs.

I could see you guys taking a shot at Iggy as well if he doesnt extend with the Pens
