I dont mind the deal at all, Gaborik sucks, not happening here, just saved cap space. Maybe another move about to go down.
- B2B76

Gaborik scored 41 last season... You're right, terrible player...lol... The whole friggen team sucks this year (other than Cally)...

Honestly, neither do I. Brassard has been a disappointment in his short career, and Dorset doesn't help now. Moore is the wildcard, but its hard for me to understand this deal. And, we traded Gaborik in division. Unless something else happens in the next 5 minutes.
- Pete V

Gabby would only be within the division for next yr, unless he resigns in Columbus which I just dont see happening.

Changing the team to play a more tortorella style of play. I think the moves made recently will pan out, the rangers need a more heart and sole dynamic... not european flash, at least under tortorella.

Jan Levine: Gaborik to the Blue Jackets
Salary freed up, younger players brought back

- airjan23

I don't understand why everyone is up in arms over this move. I look at Brassard as someone who can bring a lot to this team. I don't know much about Moore or Dorsett but I personally don't have a problem with this move. We get Gabby's contract off the books and I think we add much needed depth to this team. I really like Brassard but that's just me. I know he has been up and down in Columbus but we added more depth at center ice which I love.

I really thought Gaborik would fetch more. Even though Gaborik didn't score he was always a threat to break out. Now this offense looks much worse of possible. I don't get it, at least get a first rounder for him then if you're not gonna get some offense in return. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not in love with this trade.

Me too, i love the people were running this guy out of town and now hate this trade..

- TrueBlue9182

I wanted to keep him unless we got value for him...we got as they say in my household "ooo gots"

eh jury is still out on this one. if you had gotten a 1st from CBJ (they have 3), it would have been a good deal for you guys. Moore seems like a good prospect, and Brassard is a talented player.

if you comment on this trade and don't talk about clearing cap space, then don't even bother talking about it

this is what some dude said about the players:
"brassard = loads of potential when drafted, zero delivery on that potential. has been a pretty big disappointment. at best, he's your 3rd line center.

dorsett = good 3rd line, role player. tough, can put the puck in some times. think, chris neil, but younger.

john moore = solid defensive prospect. not sure he cracks the rangers top six when all your guys are healthy though."

Relax brotha I don't think it's not that much of a loss. Gaborik clearly isn't the player he was last season. I think we added more value to this team long term with what we got from Columbus then what Gaborik was going to give us from here on out. Gabby is on the downside of his career if you ask me. I will miss Gabby and I appreciate everything he did while he was here but it was a smart move IMO. BTW Gabby was a success here if you ask me.

We neither got a proven commodity back in that trade, neither did we get back in this year's first round. This trade will only make sense to me if the Rangers make another deal. Otherwise, this year's team got worse, IMO.

Yeah, but someone has to score. It happens on all crappy teams. Someone always gets to shine. But do you want to put all your eggs in Steps' basket? Really?

I am in total agreement. Feels like we just conceded the season, I know they weren't winning a cup anyways but I would have like to have tried!

I agree he has had a bad season to date. But, Washington started slow too, and now are pressing. Talented players need training camp. It is that simple. That's why I think this is stupid. Brassard has been a dud since his highly touted debut. The other two players are still unproven. And as far as depth goes, I'd take Gabby over all 3 any day. If we were getting back a 1st, I'd re-consider.

Great deal for the Rangers.

A win-win for both teams and that's all I have to say about that.
