Out with no time table to return. I would guess last couple of regular season games maybe but more likely the playoffs.

the Rangers traded a 31 year old today for 3 players, the oldest who is 26 years old.

If you actually know the Hodge for Middleton trade, it is absolutely nothing like that.

- jimbro83

That's just the feeling I had when I heard the trade announced; a-la Giacomin to Detroit; Ridley to Washington, & Leetch to Toronto. (Messier wanted to leave for Vancouver; or that one would be up there also).
The problem I have with the trade is that this is a Torts trade to benefit his MORONIC coaching system;& to make up for the losses of Prust, Fedetenko, & Mitchell. Torts said that infamous line about Prust after he left for MTL.
Torts's system does not produce goals for us. Even an "in his prime" GRETZKY" would be affected by this system. Take anyone's stats that come here in a trade or signing, and they would be lower offensive-wise.
So in effect, you gave up the aforementioned 3 players above PLUS GABORIK, (your second best goal scoring talent to Nash); to get just those 3 types of players back again. Age doesn't matter. We have less of a time period left here to take advantage of playing in front of the best goalie in the world (as Tort said he is) while he is in his prime. But Hank can't score goals for us. Even he complained about that recently after a shutout loss.

whatever man, whats done is done. This season is a wash anyway. This off-season is something to be excited about though.
- Nomad91

As long as a new coaching staff, and possibly a new GM is here as well to make the proper player moves, and use a system that utilizes the best skills of those players, unlike this one does, and REFUSES to do; leading to the trade of our 2nd best goal scorer.

Brassard is only 3 years older. Still a pretty young dude.
- RAG$4LIFE

I just mean at 26 he is what he is at this point. Im hoping Torts can squeeze another 10 points per year out of him and make him a 55 pt player. But in reality he will be in the dog house immediately.

I dont get how we added "jam" and "torts players" in the last 24 hours. Brassard is not that player, Dorsett isnt playing. We just added Clowe for that department. Thats all.

You want Tort's system to ADD points to a guys production? What have you been smoking?

I know?! Crazy to think a coach can make a player better at offense.

Odd move in my opinion. May work out long term, but short term, i feel like you guys have been weakened. If my team was worth a wet fart, i would be excited, but sadly, I'm not.

Rangers hit the ice for warmups. New Rangers Derick Brassard and John Moore don't appear to be on the ice.

Maybe they aren't playing

Only thing that is a silver lining is what Jimbro is pumping.

Lets say Brassard, Dorsett, and Moore replace Gaborik, Pyatt, and Eminger one for one.

That saves about $5M. We have to see how that is used AND see hwo Moore develops before we judge i guess... Thats the most positivity you are going to get out of me.

For last couple years we hade to many bottom 6 forwards and we needed more top 6 forwards. Now we hade to many top forwards and are missing gritty/jam players? Well hoping this move makes more sence in the off season.

I get the clearing cap space but now that Gabby's gone all you Torts lovers and Gabby haters are going to see that it's the coaching that's killing this team and not the players. Gabby will net 2 in his first game. And the 4 players the Rangers got, Meh, they're not much at all.
- DONMURDOCH14

Exactly; but Gaborik will score 10 more goals by this season's end; and a minimum of 40 EACH season not being under TORTS's MANIAC OPERATED MORONIC system. He fails to utilize his players for the assets they provide; and pressures and yells at them constantly. His next step would be to act like that Rutgers basketball coach; & that would be good because then Sather or Dolan would finally fire him...I HOPE!!!

I can't believe the caps gave up their top prospect Frosberg for Martin Erat. Management must really want to make the playoffs

For once I agree. Im sick of this we need more Jam bullpoop. We need more (frank)ing goals is what we need. remember, gabby had one bad year here already and came back with 40 goals the next year.
- mrhattrick27

Torts thinks that Lundqvist and Biron score goals when they make a save. Why does he give up Gaborik today???
Because Torts doesn't know how to teach offense here, and that you have to put the puck into the opposing team's net to score goals to win games.

What a depressing season. Never, in my wildest dreams, would i have imagined NJ and the Rangers fighting for the final spot with the Isles.

Parity reigns supreme.
