after thinking about the move for a while, i'm starting to like it a bit more.
this spot solidifies our 3rd line center so we don't need to rush miller and boyle can be bumped down, adds a prust-type player, and gets hamrlik off the lineup.
it also opens up a top 6 spot for hagelin/kreider to have. part of the reason that torts didn't play kreider a lot was cuz there weren't any spots. he wasn't going to play over gabby, richards, nash, stepan, hagelin, cally, miller, and even clowe.
eventually, it's gonna be something like:
Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Kreider/Miller - Richards - Cally
Miller/Kreider - Brassard - MZA
Clowe - Boyle - Dorsett/Asham/Powe/Pyatt
McD - Girardi
Staal - MDZ
Stralman - Moore - rangerdanger94
As I do more research, I'm actually warming up to this trade as well. Brassard isn't having a bad season by any means, especially with the talent he was surrounded with. I'm on the fence on Dorsett. I like what he brings but the guy fights like Ryan Hollweg, and I hate seeing my guys getting beat up. My lines are:
Hagelin-Step-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Cally
Clowe-Brassard-MZA
Miller-Boyle-Pyatt,Asham,Powe?
Pretty much the same as your lines. I like the balance. I don't think they acquired Clowe to give him 4th line minutes though. Dorsett has been out 4 weeks with a broken clavicle so I'm not sure when he'll be read to go

All I know is one of Miller and Kreider better be back soon as it makes our lineup a whole lot better. |

Yeah and I think it will be Miller. Kreider isn't even on the NYR roster on their website as of now. |

Really pumped for tonights game. I know we got a lot on our plate with Pittsbugh but I'm curious to how the team comes out with the recent trades and how much of an impact Clowe makes. I'm assuming Brassard will be here for next game? |

Clowe will not be a 4th line player... you dont give up two 2nds and a 3rd for a 4th liner.
Hagelin, Stepan, Nash
Kreider, Richards, Callahan
Clowe, Brassard, Miller
4th line doesnt really matter, but going forward, that looks like what the lines will be with the wings all shifting around the lineup as they always do under Torts. |

I agree. I think we all agree its sad to see Gabby go. He was great for us here in NY. And yet another jersey goes up in the rafters in Tom's closet |

If Torts can transform Brassard into what Derek Stepan (I know hes much older) and John Moore into our group of Dmen like he has. Then maybe we make out ok. I just think thats too many ifs. |

Actually think I'd rather have Moore, Dorsett and Brassard over Glencross and Babchuk. Not a fan at all of Babchuk. |

hey guys, my 2 cents
lets calm down about the trades...a lot of guys in here are reminding me of the grown men at the garden who dont know hockey screaming "shoot" during the PP
everyone is forgetting 1 thing in all of this, the owner dolan. coincidence that sather is awesome at trades but not signings? all those rediculous signings i put on dolan
for example look at buffalo, new big and bad owner last year who thinks he knows hockey so they go out and get FAs ernhoff (from van) and leino (from phily)...and they overpay, turns out they blow so now it looks like the GM talked some sense into him and now theyre rebuilding
my take is right b4 the deadline sather did not want to overpay for nash to break up the chemistry..but after coming so close to the finals dolan demanded the trade, and with the cap situation had to let the good peices feds/prust go and try to replace with cheaper options
not only did it not work out, the identity of the team changed...so these trades are bringing us back to closer to last year of a team hard as nails
to be honest id much rather watch a hard working team like last years team lose 2-1 then this years version lose 2-1, 2-0 |

Oh sweet. Gonna be an interesting game. I hear the kid has wheels. Plus he only has 3 points less than Gaborik and a much better +/-
I won't be surprised if Gabby starts lighting it up for CBJ. No doubt in my mind that Colombus made that trade to put him back with Vinny Prospal. |

Don't love the trade, don't hate it. See how it goes. Adding Clowe and Dorsett (if he comes back for the playoffs) makes us much gritter. Very intrigued by Moore. Could be a steal for us.
Let's be real, Gaborik wasn't producing. It's not like we are missing a lot THIS season with him gone. He could bounce back next year, but no matter what he wasn't resigning with the team. I can live with the trade.
The Rangers finally have some size and depth. Although they might need one of Kreider or Miller now.
I am pissed all of Asham, Boyle, and Pyatt are still here. I don't think all three are needed. Looks like they will all have permanent spots in the lineup going forward. |
