I doubt this is true, but if it is, there's no reason this move can't happen in the offseason. Caps are not contending this year, neither are the Sabres, and the difference on the contracts if it happened in the offseason is 11ish games. We didn't need Ovi for the end of this season, just like the Caps don't need Miller/Staff for the rest of this season.

This is probably just a bunch of garbage, though.

Hackett is obviously the plan to replace Enroth. The 1st in this years draft and Larsson are the main part to this trade IMO. So the whole this means Miller is out the door before next season may not be true.

So that all but says Miller will be dealt at the draft/summer, I would not be opposed to resigning Vanek but if reports are true about him not wanting to resign then he could be gone as well. Going to be a very interesting off season.
