Really, I don't think it was as bad of a trade as everyone is making out to be. They got Latta and Erat. They have Kuznetsov. Ovechkin isn't getting any younger. Erat is a top 6 option and can play the game.

The only thing that would make sense to me is if they are down on Forsberg - it does give you a bit of pause that he fell to them in the draft, but I can't see giving up on him after 9 months - I didn't hear any "this guy is a bust" rumblings about him. Oh well, maybe Erat can help us lock up that 3 seed and we can win our standard one playoff round then get eliminated in the Conference Semifinals.

Kuznetsov is a crap shoot though as to whether he's ever going to come to the NHL. I hope this isn't a desperate "we need playoff revenue" deal to insure that they can grab that 3 seed by winning the awful SE. I guess we won't know how bad this trade is until Forsberg does/doesn't develop.

Erat + Latta...it's not like Erat is garbage, drummer. I've watched him play for the national team and he's a go to guy at times. Skates fast and is a two-way player. Off to get a shower. Game in a couple hours!
